On January 11, 2022, I wrote about Burger King's recent cryptocurrency marketing campaign where Burger King customers had a chance of winning a Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Dogecoin. You can read more about the campaign in “Did Anyone Win Bitcoin in Burger King’s Crypto Promotion or Was It Just Another Crypto Scam?”.
Burger King’s promotion administrator, Merkle Inc., published the list of major prize winners after my article was published. Only Bitcoin and Ethereum winners were disclosed.
Unfortunately Dogecoin winners were not disclosed. Burger King's promotion rules only mention a "winners list", so I don't know if a complete winners list will be released. We may never know how many people participated in the contest.
People Really Won Bitcoin and Ethereum
Of the 20 Bitcoin Prizes there were only 4 people who won a Bitcoin. 16 Bitcoins are left over.

Of the 200 Ethereum Prizes there were only 31 people who won an Ethereum. 169 Etherea are left over.

Everyone had the opportunity to win 21 crypto prizes during the promotion. No single person won two or more Bitcoins or Etherea. Nor did a single person with both a Bitcoin and an Ethereum. It's possible that each Bitcoin winner and each Ethereum winner also won up to 20 individual Dogecoin if they participated in the promotion all 21 days.
Unfortunately, we don't know how many people won a Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Dogecoin and failed to claim the prize by the deadline, so we don't really have any indication of the success of the campaign.
What Should Burger King Do With The Left Over Crypto?
I'm really happy that Burger King did this campaign. It was a great step forward for cryptocurrency in the mass market. But it's a little disappointing that only 4 out of 20 Bitcoin and 31 out of 200 Ethereum were given out.
One idea for the left over crypto is for Burger King to distribute the remaining coins to the past winners. They can randomly draw winners until all of the remaining coins are claimed. I think this would be a fun way for Burger King to continue to ride the wave of public attention to cryptocurrency and encourage potential customers to participate in future deals and offers.
Of course they could also sell the remaining coins on the market, but that wouldn't be much fun, would it?
