The Children's Shows I'll Never Forget

The Children's Shows I'll Never Forget

By soyernesto | Curious Nook | 7 Feb 2025

Hello friends and screen lovers, a while ago we talked about those adult shows that marked my childhood, and since I know you enjoy the retro theme, today we will talk, this time, about children's shows that marked my childhood. Without a doubt, these shows are remembered with the affection and longing of times when everything was simpler and there weren't so many responsibilities. Coming home from school was an invitation to sit down and enjoy hours of television. Without a doubt, these characters and stories have a place in our hearts.

Let's escape our reality a bit and talk about those 5 children's shows.

5. Mona the Vampire

Mona the Vampire was a Canadian animated series, inspired by a children's book. It tells the stories and adventures of a 10-year-old girl named Mona Parker and her friends. All with their alter egos where they embodied different characters through their imagination. The episodes showed how every day was an adventure in their city full of mysteries, monsters, and paranormal cases.

One aspect I love about this series is its drawing style and the representation of the characters' eyes, totally round, and how can we forget those magnificent background settings.

Mona the Vampire, Zapman, and Princess Giant were undoubtedly great allies in my childhood, fostering imagination and the ability to create mysterious stories from the everyday. Without a doubt, if you grew up watching this series, it has a piece of your heart.

4. Power Rangers: Wild Force

Without a doubt, all Power Rangers is an invitation for children and their imagination. We all wanted to have those magnificent suits, weapons, and robots. Of all, Wild Force holds more affection for me, being my favorite. It was customary to finish an episode and go out with my friends to pretend to be these heroes, where everyone wanted to be the Red Power Ranger.

Power Rangers Wild Force followed the story of Cole, a young man who, after living in the jungle, decides to embark on a journey to find his family. Along the way, he discovers Animarium, a floating island and sanctuary of the Rangers. This season, I dare say, has the most diverse and balanced team of heroes. It also explored more complex themes such as personal relationships, friendship and betrayals, diversity, bullying, and even environmental issues.

This season left memorable moments, including the special Forever Red, where all the Red Rangers from previous installments participated, the Lunar Wolf Ranger story arc, and the best villains of the entire franchise: the Duke Org and the Toxica.

3. The Adventures of Miss Mallard

There's nothing more entertaining than a good detective and mystery show, and before SherlockMindhunter, and Broadchurch, there was The Adventures of Miss Mallard. A children's series where all the protagonists were ducks and where there was no shortage of a robbery, a good conflict, and even a murder.

Each episode of this series presented us with a new and exciting case to solve. Miss Mallard is introduced to us as an adult character, perhaps on the verge of old age, with two great passions: knitting and sticking her beak into any mystery she finds during her travels around the world. She is always accompanied by her faithful and sometimes clumsy nephew Willard.

The series went beyond simple detective cases, it dealt with and managed to convey values to children, from friendship, honesty, and perseverance. A proposal that perfectly balanced education and entertainment. Without a doubt, if you had the opportunity to watch it, you will remember it fondly.

2. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe

If a production has everything to be bad but still pleases, especially those who could enjoy it in their childhood, it was He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Set on the planet Eternia, it introduced us to Prince Adam and his double life, as a clumsy prince and as a powerful warrior who fought to preserve the peace of his land, accompanied by his faithful friends. The episodes were simple and repetitive, basically all based on the same mechanics: Skeletor, the main antagonist, tried by all means to take over Castle Grayskull and He-Man used his powers to defeat him. You knew everything would be fine the moment our hero said By the power of Grayskull! I have the power!

Despite all this, the series became very popular, perhaps because of its interesting universe full of magic, aliens, and warriors with all kinds of weapons. The final minutes were always intended to leave advice for the little ones or explain that what they saw in the episode was pure fiction, something very common during its broadcast era.

1. Sailor Moon

It wasn't my first anime, but it was the one that influenced me the most during that time. The first thing I would like to highlight is the magnificent Latin dubbing and its beautiful songs, which cannot be missing from my playlist.

The life of Serena Tsukino, a clumsy and distracted teenager, is about to change. After meeting a talking cat named Luna, she discovers that she is destined to be Sailor Moon, a magical warrior with the power of the Moon destined to protect the Earth from the forces of evil that are growing stronger every day. Throughout the episodes, new warriors with their different powers and abilities will join, in addition to discovering their past lives and their true destiny.

Watching Sailor Moon is being in front of a combination of comedy, action, drama, and romance. Watching the characters grow in each episode, facing challenges and learning life lessons about courage, loyalty, and teamwork.

Final Words

Writing this entry has been a nostalgic journey for me, I have undoubtedly enjoyed it a lot. Remembering each of these series takes me back to a simpler time, where imagination had no limits and lessons were learned in a fun way. I hope you enjoyed this nostalgic journey and it brought back some memories. If you share, have seen, or know about any of these productions, it would be a pleasure for me to know.
