What were your best and worst crypto moments in 2022?

Crypto has a merciless way of ageing people as it pumps adrenaline and shockwaves alike into your system. Still it might be useful to reflect on the year that’s about to end and extract useful lessons for your journey ahead. What were your best and worst crypto moments in 2022? And what lessons will you bring along with you to 2023?

Best - Successfully imported my Moons from my Reddit Vault into my MetaMask wallet. Ngl I was actually dismayed when Moons came onboard the Arbitrum Nova blockchain because I didn’t think I would have the smarts to do the needful and make my previous moons appear on MetaMask. Not embarrassed to admit that it took me the entire afternoon to figure out how to do it, so when I first saw my Moons being reflected on my MetaMask, the sense of euphoria I felt was indescribable!

Lesson learnt - Having a growth mindset is important. I gave myself the grace when I made failed attempts and told myself to hang in there and check out yet another Reddit post that listed down the steps. Believing that I would eventually figure it out despite my slowness helped me to persevere the whole afternoon.

Worst - I left my crypto on a crypto lending platform called Hodlnaut because I naively assumed that it was safe enough due to its being granted in-principle approval by Singapore’s central bank. Well, given that this central bank lost some money through investing in FTX, it wasn’t infallible. I should have taken the adage “not your keys, not your coins” way more seriously so that I wasn’t caught in the lurch when Hodlnaut abruptly halted withdrawals and filed for bankruptcy.

Lesson learnt - never delegate the responsibility of ensuring that my investments are safe, not to a central bank and certainly not to any financial institution.
