This week, there was an air of heightened anticipation on r/cryptocurrency. Reddit teased about launching its Gen 2 NFTs, only it didn’t announce exactly when, so there were accounts of people sacrificing their sleep and staring at their app so that they could react the moment these coveted NFTs were launched.

I wasn’t that keen on those NFTs, so I thought I would pass on them. This morning, I woke up to see that the Halloween edition of NFTs had been released, but went about my day, without thinking too much about it.

This evening, a Redditor I always conversed with messaged me out of the blue and asked me to send him a moon. Since I chatted with him pretty often, I was sure that he wasn’t a scammer trying to cheat me or anything. Yup, I just sent him a moon without asking him why. He had posted previously about how he didn’t understand why tipping moons wasn’t a more common practice because the gas fee on ETH Arbitrum Nova was cheap. I thought he wanted to find other Redditors who would do likewise to prove his point.

Anyway, after I sent him a moon, he told me to check out my avatar. So I clicked on ‘Style’ and then ‘You’. Little did I expect to find another NFT!

Turned out that that Redditor friend had gifted me a Robot NFT. I don’t exactly know why he needed me to give me a moon before sending me the Robot NFT, though. I guess he wanted to see if I regarded him as a friend. So I guess I passed his test of friendship. 

So, I currently have two Reddit NFTs. This is my first NFT, which is a Singularity that was gifted to me for free by Reddit.

It appeared that I could superimpose features of the Robot NFT onto the Singularity NFT because my avatar looks like this:

It is like my Singularity has received a new outfit. And I’m loving it. 

And this is how I got my second NFT. What touched me more about this incident was that someone thought of me when he wanted to bless someone with his spare NFT. And it’s a nice perk-me-up because I wouldn’t expect someone whom I only interact with online to have gone so far, you know. I feel seen, which is the best feeling you can have in a sub of anonymous users.
