My Suggestions for Best of R/Cryptocurrency 2022

By cryotosensei | CryptoSensei | 14 Dec 2022

Reddit is organising a platform-wide competition in which participating subreddits can put forth the informative, insightful and influential posts that garnered the most responses in 2022. R/cryptocurrency is a participant and it is now soliciting contributions for the below-mentioned 9 categories.

Here are my suggestions for 3 of the categories. Enjoy reading them. I think they boast a wealth of information.

OP felt that there was an acute gap in the topics being brought up for discussion on the sub - and singlehandedly wanted to plug the gap. He introduced novices and seasoned investors alike to “the wonderful world of DeFi and Web3” (quoting his title) by introducing 17 eye-opening platforms and protocols. This is particularly pertinent in today’s world in which many centralised exchanges are viewed with a tinge of suspicion. Some examples like Curve (DEX specialising in stablecoin trading) and AAVE flash loans and ETH staking with Lido are comparatively mainstream and lower-risk options whereas other options like Abracadabra (leveraged yield farming!) and DYDX (trading perpetual) might make you quaver in your shoes. I commented then that the OP wrote an article is “Carefully curated & tailored to every risk appetite!” (garnering me 17 upvotes). The only thing that he neglected to mention is how you should calibrate all these options against your risk appetite. Degen if crypto is a casino to you; stay away if you don’t have the stomach for degeneracy. Everyone seemed to get something out of this post. 4.1 upvotes speak for themselves. Save this post as it will evoke different impressions as you stay longer in this crypto space. I feel like I understand it a little bit more every time I read it.

[Best Crypto Critic]

It’s a popular belief on this sub that the next BTC halving will cause BTC to pump, as can be extrapolated from previous halving cycles. OP stuck his neck out to suggest that the bull run might not be catalysed by BTC halving cycle. He subsequently elaborated on his hypothesis, which was that BTC pump was caused by the stock market breaking out of range into new all time highs. He expounded on this hypothesis with recent trends. It does seem plausible since we all know that crypto isn’t as decoupled from the stock market as we hope for it to be. You may or may not agree with his alternative theory but I thought he made a valiant effort to provide something different that offered food for thought.

If the only form of technical analysis you know is the Fear and Greed index, it might be time to broaden your knowledge and learn about these ten market indicators. OP started off with the better-known indicators like the rainbow chart and 200 weekly moving average and ended off with ones that I had never heard of, such as MRV Z-score indicator and Mayer Multiple. On the whole, OP claimed that the bottom was in since 8 out of 10 indicators leaned towards this direction. You be the judge. Some humour at the end as OP surfaced the sub sentiment as an informal market indicator.
