Julian Hosp`s Private Newsletter Has 2 Million Subscribers But No One Ever Subscribed

Julian Hosp`s Private Newsletter Has 2 Million Subscribers But No One Ever Subscribed

Recently, I received an email, the private newsletter from Julian Hosp, the CEO of CakeDeFi. My first impression was that this email was spam and I still do have this impression today.

The point is that I have never subscribed to any private newsletter from Julian Hosp. Soon, it turned out that the emails did not come from any impersonator, these emails really came from Julian Hosp.

He simply took the two million email addresses from CakeDeFi and added them to his private newsletter. In his first newsletter, he wrote:

“I wanted to try something new today…. namely send you my secret weekly briefing of 4 things I am watching this week from the CEO’s point of view. I am sending this from my own e-mail, so you can let me know what you think about such a weekly briefing. I will try to read all e-mails, but I hope you understand I will not be able to reply to all… ”

I never opted into this newsletter and I had a hard time unsubscribing and I am still receiving emails that I never ordered.

Then only one day later the second email from Julian Hosp arrived. This one had the subject “[SHOCK] Was my e-mail hacked?” Here is a screenshot.

Actually, I wasn’t the only one who had the impression that this email had been spammy and scammy. The Telegram group and other social media channels from CakeDeFi literally got flooded with questions and concerns from users.

In this second email, Julian Hosp even stated that also many of his own team members had the impression that something was strange.

I tried to opt out but I am still receiving emails with spammy subjects like “How many Bitcoins do I own?” To be honest, I don’t F#ing care how much Bitcoin this obviously narcissistic personality owns!

First, Julian Hosp uses the confidential user data of CakeDeFi without restraint and he also boasts on the internet that his private newsletter supposedly has 2 million subscribers. This not only shows how wrong and mendacious this person is.

No one has subscribed to his newsletter, he simply took all email addresses without asking for permission and it is actually a big red flag that he randomly decided to tap into the database of CakeDeFi to use all the email addresses he could find to add them to his own private newsletter, an absolute no go.

I also raised my concerns in the Telegram group. I was not the only one, however, the mods did not accept any criticism and labeled us as haters and FUDers which is another no-go. Actually, everything was fine until other mods like Fabio Andretta decided to continue the discussion.

I always had been a supporter of CakeDefi, most of you know that. However, this doesn’t mean that I have to clap for everything they do, I still remain critical.

When I have concerns I will raise them, especially for projects I care of. Sending this unsolicited private newsletter was the first no-go and the second no-go was marking criticism as hate or FUD.
