SPS Validator Network Updates
It was recently announced on the official SPS DAO account on X a few hours ago that the SPS Validator Network is up and running. The important thing for a network to function well is to have a good number of active validators and in the case of Splinterlands there are 301 active Validator Nodes. Furthermore, according to the Patch Note of February 18, the handling of SPS is the responsibility of the SPS network validators and this is evident in the image above, with the updated price of SPS by the validators.
Regarding the rewards received by validators, previously only for holding the License token within the game, they received 16.4 SPS and 4 Vouchers, that is, about $0.10 per day, now that the Voucher has become an internal token. Each License token is costing $260 on the secondary market, which was the last sale made. Now with the launch of the SPS Validator Network, rewards have been paused and will resume when validators are ready.
Aggroed Returns - #1 Validator!
On X, Aggroed, Co-Founders of Splinterlands, shared the ranking of SPS Chain validators. In first place is himself, returning to the project after leaving Yabapmatt in charge of Splinterlands, now as one of the main validators being voted as the main validator of the network with 256M. In second place we have one of the largest marketplaces and developer of several tools, peakmonsters with 34M. In third place was a team led by Dejota with 208M.
Aggroed has been very active both in Splinterlands as CEO for years and also in Hive as Witness. However, even though some issues had caused him to take a break, when the opportunity to help the community as one of the validators of the SPS Validator Network came up he decided to participate promptly and the community supported his return. Now both Aggroed and the players are ready for the next bullrun that Splinterlands will take part in now that it is a decentralized game on a decentralized network, something few have.
Peakmonsters x Alternative to Licenses
The point to note is that there is now the cost of keeping the software running to receive the rewards, which may end up being more expensive than the rewards received. The interesting thing is that Peakmonsters, currently the top 2 validators, is having a program for players to use their system for free for a period of time, but after that there will be a fee, which should be cheaper than paying for the entire system to run a few Licenses.
Dejota, Bradetofu and Talking Duck Team
I also found a post on Twitter by Dejota announcing the partnership between him, bravetofu and Talking Duck to launch an SPS Validator Node, which by the way was very successful since they are right after Aggroed and Peakmonsters. Just like the others, this team, made up of a duck, a cat and a DJ (description in their post), loves Splinterlands and is ready to run Node.
In this aspect, Splinterlands has the great advantage of having investors in the project who love the game. Therefore, you, as a License holder, will be able to choose from several great options. This is very lucky, because what you normally see in other projects are investors who don't even play web3 games and only care about profit.
