An unusual aspect of this week was our last place in the Guild Brawl, due to the below-average performance of our members. This gave me the idea that the guild situation could benefit from more attention, with incentives like sparkles to encourage greater player activity. Come find out!
I'll be much appreaciated if you Upvote, Reblogs or give any Tips ( PIZZA 🍕, PGM 🎮, LOLZ 😆, ALIVE ❤️, etc ). Thanks and have good reading! 🍀
[ENGLISH VERSION]
Last Place in Guild Brawls
The big "news" of the week is related to the results of this week's Guild Brawl in Splinterlands. The guild ended up in last place in Guild Brawls, performing well below our usual level in Brawls matches. This was a big surprise and ended up being one of the topics of the Splinterlands Social Media, because as I mentioned, it's not a common result in Guild Brawls, because we usually stay closer to the middle of the table, but I don't recall an instance where we managed to get first place from the bottom up, or first among the last lol.
This situation of the guild having a terrible performance, securing last place in the Guild Brawls ranking, besides making the guild members sad because of the performance, also had other consequences. The first consequence was in the Merits, which, due to the low ranking, meant that the players who participated in the Brawls got about 30% less than normal. It may not seem like it, but this reduction in merits mainly affects the player's deck development for guild brawls, because it is with merit tokens that gladiator card packs are acquired.
In addition to Mertis, another token that players receive upon completing Guild Brawls was impacted due to the low placement. This token is the SPS - Splinterlands governance token -, a token given as a reward in ranked matches, but also in Brawls. The drop in SPS was around 30% to 40% less, remembering that the SPS received is the Staked SPS, going directly to the game's Staking, which has a 4-week unstake period. This information is important to note.
Even though the guild's overall performance was well below everyone's expectations, my individual performance was at least average to above average, which doesn't mean much because it's a team game mode where everyone must score points for the overall ranking to be good. But, aside from that overall performance, out of 14 players I ended up in the top 6. So, at least I didn't have a major role in the defeat; it could have been better, but at least I wasn't that bad, achieving a 50% win rate, with 4 wins and 4 losses.
How to Improve Guild Brawls?
I mentioned in a previous post that I think the Splinterlands team needs to pay more attention to guilds. The reason is quite simple and straightforward. In games, guilds are the foundation of everything; they are the main interaction between players within the game, excluding the interaction that occurs through communication platforms outside the game. The impact is even greater because it's a card game and not a game like an MMORPG where there's social interaction via chat, which means communication is mainly focused on guilds.
The guild interface itself, the systems, haven't been revamped like the rest of the site. Furthermore, leaving the social aspect aside and focusing on rewards, it's worth remembering that SPS used to have a much more significant value than it does now. Currently, a token is worth around $0.006, meaning that a victory in brawls often doesn't justify competitive participation for players, as they may need to rent cards and end up with a negative balance. This causes the level of matches to drop and fewer players are participating.
A possible solution would be to provide some kind of card collection that could be used outside the Guild Brawl system or add some glint to matches to encourage participation. I believe something needs to be done, but that's up to the developers who have the game data; these are just suggestions.
