Match Details: Mana, Rules, and Elements!
Before we address the main combo of magic-attack monsters, which are very fast, let's provide some context, with details of the match in which they were used. Starting with the mana, rules, and elemental specifications, this was a mid-to-high mana game, with 39 mana points, which allowed us to choose cards like Djinn Oshannus. Regarding the rules, we have: Aim True, which prevents attacks from missing; Blood and Sunger, which grants the Corrosive War ability, which reduces armor; and Noxious Fumes, which causes all units to be poisoned from the start. Finally, regarding the elements, four were available (Fire, Water, Earth, and Death).
Fast & Powerful Mage Combo
It's time to understand what the Fast & Powerful Mage Combo is, which is somewhat reminiscent of Fast & Furious. Initially, as the name suggests, we chose Kelya Frendul as our Summoner, one of the strongest in the Chaos Legion collection, who grants all allies +1 Shield and +1 Speed. Furthermore, for units to achieve high speed, they also need a high base Speed stat. This brings us to the choice of Mages.
The first one that couldn't be left out is the Djinn Oshannus, who has an extremely powerful overall kit, being both a tank and DPS. But the standout in the match is the Shock Trooper, with 4 Speed and 4 magic damage. His problem arises when he survives more than two rounds, as he deals damage to his allies. However, thanks to Poison, he managed to eliminate his opponents and leave the scene. Some interesting mentions include the 1-mana Tank with 6 HP and the Opportunity monsters that helped in the battle.
My Strategy vs. Opponent's Strategy
Interestingly, this combo managed to work and secure the victory even in a scenario where the match rules weren't in their favor. Since one of the combo's focuses is speed, Aim True ends up hindering it because every attack will hit, taking away the dodging chance units would otherwise have due to their high speed. Second, Corrosive War ends up disrupting the shield Kelya grants to all units. I ended up using Poison to my advantage because the Shock Trooper can cause problems if he survives too long, so him being eliminated early isn't a bad thing. Also, a good number of my units had high HP.
On the other hand, the rule that ended up hurting the opponent the most was Poison, because he had 3 units that could survive a maximum of 2 rounds: Chaos Evoker with 3 HP, Chaos Adjutant with 4 HP, and Continuum Seer with 2 HP, being one unit that wouldn't even make it to the second round of the match. Therefore, it's important to understand the context of the match.
