What is AXS? What is it useful for?

AXS - Axie Infinity Shards - is the main token in the Axie universe, which makes up the franchise's games and NFTs, used to reward players for interacting with Axie Infinity and further decentralizing. It is responsible for the game's governance, can be staked to generate passive rewards and is used as payment for improvements and NFTs.
Players can earn AXS by participating, for example, in the Leaderboard of games in the Axie Infinity universe, such as Axie Origins, or in the Bounty Board, by completing daily missions. Remember that there are even more ways.
One detail is important: projects also need to make a profit. In the case of the Axie Infinity treasury, it currently receives 4.25% of Axie NFT sales made on the marketplace and also part of the AXS breeding fee. More ways to earn money are planned in the future.
AXS Issuance Changes
In a recent post on the Axie Infinity page, it was announced that the issuance of AXS tokens for staking rewards will be reduced from 50,516 AXS/day to 23,665, which started on July 1st and will end in March 2026. The post says to think of this as a halving of AXS issuance for staking.
It is worth noting that the Axie Infinity Whitepaper says that the total issuance of AXS will be 65 months, or 5.5 years, and that it started in November 2020.
For AXS stakers, these changes will mean that they will continue to receive staking rewards until March 2026. From then on, the Axie Infinity community will need to decide via governance whether they want to fund staking rewards with AXS from the Treasury. This will generate great instability in the token, because no one knows what the future will be, the community can maintain it or decide not to maintain it and there is not much time left until then.
