Word is spreading about Warsaken, a new strategy card game that is tremendously fun to play/livestream. You can learn how to play by watching some of my Twitch VODs in the Warsaken Video Vault and find some favorite cards by perusing the Warsaken Card Catalog on Draft King.
To play Warsaken Blitz, the simplified version of Warsaken, you only need 65 cards: 1 leader, 4 territories, and 60 cards in your arsenal, the term used to refer to a player's deck.
There are six categories for the cards in a Blitz arsenal: Weather, Force, WMD, Intel, Building, and Morale.
Rarity doesn't matter in Blitz. It's fun to play with high-end cards, Thermal Ash and 24K Gold and Blood Foils and such. But it's strictly aesthetic. From a game functionality standpoint, Common and Legendary cards have identical effects.
This is a huge positive, as it makes Blitz easy for newcomers to play without having to spend much money. A Force match with Rank 1 Common cards does the exact same thing as a Force match with, say, Rank 3 Night Vision cards.
Here's how to get started. First, set up a WAX wallet. You actually own your digital assets in Warsaken, which is remarkably refreshing, and you can store those digital cards in your WAX wallet.
If you have Amazon Prime, you can (as of this writing) obtain a free WAX Cloud Wallet via the game Brawlers in Prime Gaming. There are other options, such as mycloudwallet.com and Anchor. If you use Anchor, you can choose a custom 12-letter name to use as your wallet address.
That was how I landed the nashvillelou name on WAX, which I use for my digital artwork.
I recommend that you buy cards for your arsenal in sets of four. You can obtain them on the secondary market. Remember, you can mix/match rarities to create your set of four of the same card title, so you have options if someone lists a higher-rarity card at an unusually low price.
Your arsenal of 60 cards, if constructed properly, will have 15 sets of four. Here's where the category list comes into play.
Force (5x4) - Every Blitz deck needs at least some Force, given that Force is the only way to eliminate a compromised leader and win the game.
Weather (4x4) - You're allowed a maximum of four sets of four Weather cards in a deck of Warsaken Blitz. I've seen games take dramatic turns with Weather match cascades. All Blitz decks should have four sets of four weather, full stop.
WMD (2x4) - You can play, at most, one WMD match per side in a game of Warsaken Blitz.
Intel (2x4) - Some players don't use Intel, but I consider it a vital part of a balanced deck. Intel being played at the right time can really flummox your opponent.
Building (2x4) - The equalizer to Intel-heavy decks, a Building match can save the day. Being able to bring cards from your discard pile to your hand is important. Of course, early in a game Building cards can get in the way, so you don't want to run too deep with them.
Morale (0x4) - I seldom use Morale in Blitz, as you'll almost always be better off playing Force sets instead. The one exception is if you luck into an opponent with a 17 or 18 Start Morale leader and several Territory cards with high Morale penalties if eliminated.
To that end, your Leader card should have high Morale. Look for 20 Start Morale (or 19 if you must), keeping in mind that the maximum Morale to start a game of Blitz is 20.
As noted above, some of the Territories can be severe with the Morale hits. For example, Pons Research Centers delivers -8 Morale damage when eliminated.
Ocean Oil Platforms and Gardens of Lee are even worse at -9 Morale if eliminated. Avoid those for Blitz.
You'll want to go for Territory cards with only a -3 or -4 Morale penalty. You should find some good options with Port of Carmasani, Bancaire Island, Mt. Uptania Production Site, Brotherland Fields, Blackearth Mine, Scrap Yard S3-1035, and Clementine Mire. Duplicates for Territory cards aren't allowed in the same Blitz deck, so plan accordingly.
