Tour of the Blockchain

As always, remember: Never invest money you can't afford to lose.
Do your own research. Buy my digital artwork

I started to include this in the column I wrote about the rather arduous process of unstaking 2,000+ Alien Worlds NFTs from R-Planet, but that was already starting to run long without this section being included.

Ultimately, it warranted its own post.

Here's what I'm looking at now in the world of cryptocurrency and blockchains and NFTs...

Cryptomining: Utilizing the NiceHash interface, my broadcasting computers earn me crypto around the clock. Miners use my GPU for ethereum or altcoin mining, and NiceHash compensates me with BTC.

Nice Hash
One of the most impressive pieces of tech I've encountered in some time is the MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GPU. It absolutely flies, runs cool, and has the feel of something that is too great for this world.

It's somewhat like the original Sirius Sportster radio I got in 2005 in that respect. Later had its spot filled on the market by an intelligence-insulting downgrade of a replacement.

I'm sure there are ways I could maximize things further, beyond overclocking and the basic tricks, but tech is not my strong suit. I only learn this stuff because I absolutely have to in order to access this remarkably fascinating world.

This really is 1995 .html all over again for me in so many ways. Even the same youthful enthusiasm for NFTs now at age 43 that I had for websites at 18 as a freshman at the University of Evansville

210 Townsend St. in Upland
Upland: I've been holding steady with what I've got in Upland, the property trading game. At some point I want to do an NFT giveaway for people who use a "send" to visit my 210 Townsend St property near the San Francisco train station.

My gimmick in the world of NFTs is Nashville, but there are only a few cities in Upland thus far and Nashville isn't one of them. That's actually a good thing as it means they're not rushing things on the development side.

So, instead, check out my virtual U.S. west coast property.

The send fee for the 210 Townsend Street lot is only 20 UPX, which I think is grandfathered in from how the original owner had it. I'm not sure if I'd be able to set it that low again if I fiddled with the price, so I've left it be.

Why fix what isn't broken?

There are also Upland NFTs in the WAX blockchain (hooray!) which can be staked in R-Planet. Along with that, an interface is coming soon that will allow certain tier NFTs to be imported into Upland itself as a player avatar.

This is why I don't worry about people who try to tell me that NFTs are a fad. That is such off-base thinking, like saying mail order was a fad because of the popularity of Beanie Babies fading over time.

Such thinking reveals a complete misread of the situation. Keep that in mind as a tell for somebody who really doesn't know what he or she is talking about with this.

Alien Worlds: Obtaining a land in this game remains a priority, but the price point makes any such purchase a challenge as of now.

I want to channel my inner Grandpa Pickney, the man for whom I was named. He was masterful at trading property, particularly in the west Nashville area.

If possible, I want to swap for the land. I'd love to flip one of my uncommon Waxon lots in R-Planet, but there's a considerable price difference there still at this point. Though the gap has closed as of late.

While I did sell hundreds and hundreds of AW NFTs over this weekend, I also kept the important ones. My triple gasrigged extractor set, including two gold-shined extractors, continues to work effectively for me.

I sold four stone gasrigged extractors to get that second gold gasrigged. I had planned to shine it myself last weekend, but TLM is at a premium and I ended up with WAX left over by just outright selling the four stone extractors and buying a gold on the secondary market.

Had I shined my own, the price tag on top of burning the four stone gasrigged extractors would've been 500 TLM. Though I believe that cost was reduced considerably as of a few days ago, likely because of situations like mine.

As for my NFT sellathon, everything I did was calculated and it had very little to do with Alien Worlds as a game. While I unloaded hundreds of standard shovels, I made sure to hold onto the two Artunian shovels that I own.

R-Planet: Strategically I'm in a great spot right now. I own a half-dozen lands, including at least an uncommon tier land for each of the four element types. Right now I'm letting my aether collect before creating an element NFT, likely to be either Glasses or Compass.

(UPDATE: I ended up with a common Glasses NFT.)

People have asked me on Twitter about what I recommend as far as NFTs for staking go. My advice remains firm: target the R-Planet in-game NFTs as much as possible.

There are no guarantees about future staking output for third-party contributors.

When pressed beyond that, I've simply noted that I continue to buy NFTs for staking purposes from artists like Kenn Bosak and CryptoStache

Even if the staking goes away, I'll still have some NFTs that I really like.

The Uplift World: This one is in a holding pattern for me right now as the landowner tie-in between R-Planet and The Uplift World won't begin until the element Upliftium is discovered in R-Planet.

But the videos that have been posted by Thee Hustle House (which makes me think of Thee Dollhouse in Tampa and some dancers I knew who worked there many years ago) have provided some interesting glimpses into what The Uplift World has to offer.

I keep writing The Uplift World with the full title as Uplift and Upland are dangerously easy to confuse. But they're two very different projects.

Splinterlands: Typically I play Splinterlands to the point of getting five victories in the assigned daily category and earning my prize.

The game continues to treat me like I should have a much stronger deck as far as my matchups go, presumably because I exported so many legendary cards to the WAX side and AtomicHub.

With that, there's a certain emotional detachment for me. Just another grind, but the juice is worth the squeeze most of the time. At least for now.

And at least it feels like a real game and not a 25% complete project.

FREE NFTs

Finally, I'm giving away some special Nashville '08 NFTs. As a special for readers of this blog, feel free to enter the contest without tagging anyone.

Just mention that you heard about it here when you respond with your WAX address in a tweet. If you don't have Twitter and want in, hit me up via email ([email protected]) and I'll hook you up.

I just want to see what is possible. And I enjoy giving away NFTs far more than I ever would've anticipated.
