I'd love for Cryptoblades or My Defi Pet enthusiasts to explain to me WTF is going on with these garbage games.
So in the latest update for My Defi Pet — first of all after MONTHS of waiting —
... they finally reveal this boss character. Now there is really no way to defeat this boss character through skill or even leveling up. Oh yeah, a game bug stole the levels I had been farming, resetting everything back to 1, before the devs apologized and gave back only enough resources to achieve 1/2 of what I had already farmed. So I had depowered pets facing this monster boss that wasn't meant to be defeated through skill anyway. Damage is fixed based on your pet's level.
No, in order to defeat the boss, you just have to kamikaze your pets at it until you brute force it down. By the way, you're paying gas fees for every single pet you throw at it. And another by the way, every pet of yours that dies like really dies. Like you can't use it for a few months or something.
And the reward for defeating the boss? Like 1 DPET. Equivalent of like $6.
So you want me to kill all of my depowered pets, pay gas to do so, and receive an award of 1 DPET? I'd rather just buy the fuckin DPET. Actually I wouldn't. Actually, I sold all of the DPET I have because I see this game isn't going anywhere. At least I came up in the green because I got in early before the gaming pump we just had.
Cryptoblades gets a big fat F from me for the same reasons. You have to pay gas to conduct every action, which ends up costing you more than the reward you achieve. You might say this is an investment, but that's not how play to earn works. Why in the fuck would I spend both money and time to achieve a loss when I can passively earn gains through defi and yield farming? It would be easier to, and I know because I'm doing it, yield farm through completely unrelated projects and then just buy the tokens of the games you want. I'm doing this with Splinterlands, but not because I love the game. You can get around a 240% yield on SPS tokens right now, so I'm just optimizing my farms.
No one is even close to the profitable play to earn standard of Axie Infinity. What's more, most of these copycat games don't even seem to want to try to make gaming profitable for players. This play to burn industry is little better than the play to win/micro-transaction bullshit the mainstream gaming industry faces.
Don't be fooled by the "we're in the early stages" bullcrap. The truth is these blockchain games are light years behind games in general. The only reason to get involved with these games is for the play to earn potential. If it's not there, you're not only wasting your time, but actually paying to waste it. I urge the Defi Pet, Cryptoblades, Crazy Defense Heroes and other communities to hold developers to task. If you want the job of producing play to earn, you have to actually create something that allows earning.
