I was having trouble figuring out why Starbucks would use Polygon as its blockchain of choice for its new NFT program until...
I read that the new Starbucks Odyssey app won't actually have a wallet.
This means you'll have NFTs that you can see, but you won't be able to "own" them. What we're finding out is that "ownership" of NFTs isn't that big of a deal to most people.
Now because the Odyssey app doesn't have to deal with the intricacies of onboarding users into a wallet, the app is free to benefit from all of the upside of NFTs without the downside of needing to become Starbucks Crypto Academy. This is good for business.
But the most important note is this — most people don't care about ownership. Starbucks realizes this, Polygon realizes this, but do you?
