How to Purchase NFT on APTOS Chain with Martian and Petra Wallets on Topaz NFT Marketplace

Many consider Aptos as a “Solana Killer.”  APTOS is backed by Facebook Diem Team.  Even though Diem is dead, tech developed by the team moved on to APTOS and SUI chains.

What is APTOS?
Aptos is a Layer-1 blockchain that can process up to 160,000 transactions per second with the time to finality of less than 1 second. Thanks to the use of the Move language and Move Virtual Machine, it is also far safer than most L1 blockchains.

Key components of Aptos:
1) The Move language
2) The Aptos data model
3) The Move module

Move Language
To represent the state of the ledger, Aptos uses Move’s object model. Move is a new smart contract programming language, and its main focus is on both safety and flexibility. It uses Move modules to encode the rules of state transactions.

Users submit transactions that can publish new modules, upgrade ones that already exist, execute certain entry functions that are defined within this module or contain scripts that are able to interact with the public interfaces of various modules.

The ecosystem also has a compiler, a virtual machine (VM), as well as other tools that developers can use.

The programing language is designed to put a strong emphasis on resource scarcity, as well as preservation and access control. It leverages a bytecode verified that guarantees type and memory safety, even when there’s code that’s untrusted. On the other hand, to help write code that’s more trusted, developers have access to the Mover Prover – it’s a formal verifier that’s capable of authenticating the functional correctness of a program against a pre-set specification.

Data Model
Securely store and transfer APTOS and other future tokens to be issued on the Aptos blockchain. This safe wallet is non-custodial: only you have control of your digital assets.
The Aptos blockchain has defined its ledger state as the state of all accounts. It is versioned with an unsigned 64-bit integer that corresponds to the number of transactions that the network has executed.

Anyone is free to submit a transaction and, hence, modify the ledger state. Upon execution, the transaction output gets generated, and it contains zero (or more) operations to manipulate the ledger state. These are called write sets and represent a vector of resulting events, the amount of gas consumed, as well as the executed transaction status.

The transactions themselves provide the following information:

Transaction authenticator
Sender address
Payload
Gas price
Maximum gas amount
Sequence number
Expiration time
Chain ID

Move Module
A Move module has the Move bytecode which declares the structs and procedures. The structs are merely the data types.

It is identified by the address of the account where the module is declared, and it comes with a module name. The module has to be named uniquely within a certain account, and each account can declare no more than one module with any given name.

All modules are grouped into packages that are located at the same address. The owner of this address then publishes the package as a whole on the blockchain, and it includes the bytecode and the metadata of the package. Said metadata can define whether or not the package can be upgraded or if it’s immutable. For those packages that are upgradeable, there are additional compatibility checks performed before permitting the upgrade.

Aptos Wallet with Petra
Another is Martian Aptos wallet. I will describe how to setup Martian Aptos wallet and claiming a free NFT. In any APTOS crypto wallet you can hold Aptos and NFTS. You can swap assets and track past activity. You can swap assets and track past activity. Pontem.network also have a Pontem wallet that support Aptos. Currently there are Rise wallet, Fewcha wallet, Hippos wallet besides Petra wallet and Martian wallet. Petra wallet is the official wallet listed at Aptoslabs.com. I will show you how to setup Petra wallet. Under Products, click Petra wallet. This will directly take you to official Petra.app. Only install extensions from official site. Click on Download button. It will take directly to Petra Google Chrome extension. Click install Petra Aptos Wallet. After that select Petra from the gray plugin icon on the top to show up on installed plugins. Now you will see a Red "P" button. Now creat a new seed phrase and save this seed phrase. Next I will show you using APTOS test net facet to claim some fee APT airdrop of test tokens. For this you need a valid Discord account.

NFTs on APTOS
Aptos NFT market place is Topaz.so. Given Aptos just went main net few days ago, these NFTs were priced for cheap mints and even free mints, but their secondary performances would tell a different story. A good number of Aptos NFT projects had run up quickly to be trading at floor prices above $1,000.

An example of this is the Aptomingos project which had a total of 1,212 items in its collections. This is one of the projects that had minted for free on the blockchain and at the time of this writing, the Aptomingos NFT collection is sitting at a 163 APT floor price on the Topaz marketplace. This puts it at a floor price of more than $1,500. The collection has also garnered over 76,000 APT in total trading volume, about $800,000 so far in less than a week.

I will show you my example of purchasing my first NFT on Topaz NFT protocol on Aptos chain. I went log into Topaz.so and connect my Petra wallet. I have 5 APTOS tokens I purchased from Coinex Centralized exchange, more on this later. I have these APTOS tokens transfered into my Petra wallet. I am going to use them to purchase 1 APTOS NFT on Topaz. Never purchase any NFT from a collection with red claimaintion mark. It is flagged by the community as the collection has been flagged by the community as being a scam, potential IP infringement or offensive. I am going to look for a NFT collection with flow price below 1 and large number of owners but not too terribly number of items. Use Aptomingos as a bluechip baseline. It has only 683 owners and 1212 items. Also, do not forget to check out free NFT drops on Drops tab on the top. I chose Punks on Aptos collection because of only 201 items and 0.45 APTOS floor price. I only paid 0.45 APT to Punk #198. I seleted it. Enter the items as 1. Paid with APTOS tokens using my Petra wallet. After the purchase was done, you can go to the Library tab of the Petra wallet and see my APT Punk #198 appearing as a collectible.

Buying APTOS tokens from Coinex and Robinhood

As of shooting this video, I do not have mainnet APTOS tokens. I have few APTOS tokens I purchase via Coinex centralized exchange. I bought some MATIC on Robinhood with fiat currencies. I send them across from Robinhood in Polygon network into Coinex deposit address. Then, I sold them for USDT to buy APT tokens. If you do not have a Robinhood or Coinex account, I will provide signup links below. Use it, it help my channel out with small referral bonus.

Martian Wallet setup and MINT NFT on Martian Wallet
Go to nft.martianwallet.xyz/mint. It will ask you to install Martian Wallet. Click on Download. This will take you to Google Chrome extension for Martian wallet. Install this extension on Chrome or Brave Browser. Make sure you select the browser from the gray plugin button. You can either import your Petra wallet seed phrase or install a brand new wallet from new seed phrase Make sure to store it properly to not lose it. After that connect your newly setup Martian wallet, click on MINT Martian NFT. Martian wallet will pop up asking for APT gas fees. Pay gas fees from Martian wallet. If you need more APT test tokens, go to aptoslabs.com/testnet-faucet to claim more APT test tokens. You might have to solve the chapcha challenge when requesting more APT test toknens.

In Conclusion

I am hoping there will be more Airdrops for APTOS users. I also like the development activity on APTOS. Hopefully it is more reliable than Solana to be Solana killer. Only time will tell if APTOS will beat Solana.
