I hope you are all well and had an week so far, welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things crypto. Today I am doing an article on an interesting site I came across known as InWriting.io. This is a Web3 site for NFTs, however they are not for your regular NFTs. Instead it is for text only, meaning anybody who enjoys writing things like poetry, short stories, or even their everyday ramblings, can now mint them as NFTs and list them for sale on the InWriting marketplace.

InWriting

A new site I recently stumbled upon, known as In Writing, is aiming to revolutionise the NFT space as the first text-based NFT system. The website, as you can probably guess, is a NFT Marketplace where users can mint text based items only - no artwork included. Whether its a poem, a tweet, a censored article, usernames, even journalism, the team at In Writing have made it possible to mint any verbal thought you could imagine. The best part is that the NFTs are truly yours and truly unique. They are accessible to anyone, and can be bought, sold, and traded the same as any NFT. Creators

The site was created by Justin Shi and Alex Gieson. While not much is available online from what I have found regarding these two, they do have links to their social media on the website and while they have made a lot of their things private (which is totally understandable) it does state how Gieson is a senior electrical engineer at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, United States. 

They state how the objective of creating the website was based on a dedication to preventing fraud and plagiarism, while also compensating their authors fairly. There is a 24/7 support team which works to verify the minters and their addresses, guaranteeing that all writers and readers are not scammed or impersonated on the site.

They are also passionate about the promotion of open source information, and are Ethereum enthusiasts. They wish to fight censorship, meaning their platfrom will allow for anything to be minted in text form on In Writing. This includes art, although it must be text only art, but they provide an example of how it can be done with their avatars on the website, as shown below.

Wallets

From what I have experienced of the site so far, MetaMask seems to be the only wallet which can be connect to InWriting, however there may be other alternatives available which I did not see. The site makes use of the Polygon network for creating the NFTs, which is useful due to its low gas fees. All NFTs created on InWriting are stored on the blockchain, meaning they can always be viewed, transferred, bought, and sold, with the added bonus of being free on InWriting besides the gas fees. Creators will also recieve a royalty of 10% to their wallet every time there is a secondary sale with one of their NFTs.

Minting and Sales

One of my preferred parts of the site, this is like viewing NFTs on OpenSea, except instead of looking at hundreds and thousands of different works of art, instead you can view and read all the NFTs available for sale. It is a section called READ, where basically all the latest minted works are displayed.

The beauty of this concept is the fact that other marketplaces allow multiples of the same image/artwork to be created, making real problems in terms of copyright. Two or more people can own the same NFT while often the image is not even saved to the blockchain, meaning the potential for it to be lost forever. With InWriting these needs have been met and no two people can ever create the same NFT. If you mint an NFT of the letter HELLO, then nobody else can ever mint the same NFT. It is yours, and only you can have it unless you trade or sell the NFT. This means anybody who writes a poem, literature, or anything of the sorts, will have full ownership and copyright of their NFT forever. Only one person at a time can own any specific sequence of characters, making the site a creator-centred marketplace.

Interesting concept and idea from what I have seen of it. As so many of us are bloggers interested in crypto and writing I thought this might be something cool which people here may enjoy.
