Good day everyone,
I hope you are all having a good day, welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things crypto. In this post I will be looking at the news of the Sony Blockchain known as Soneium and how they are undertaking a four week campaign aimed at onboarding new users.
Soneium Blockchain
A Sony Group established company known as Sony Block Solutions Labs (Sony BSL), which was formed in Singapore back in 2023, have announced the launch of Soneium Conquest. This will be a four week long campaign which aims to draw the public into the Soneium blockchain. The company announcement notes that the campaign will feature a variety of learning modules, engaging challenges, and interactive experiences which will focus on immersing users into the Web3 space.
The campaign of Soneium Conquest will invite creators, developers, and blockchain enthusiasts to explore the Soneium ecosystem. It will be hosted on the Galxe platform and focus on key areas of creativity, connection, joy, and immersion. The first week will be focused on encouraging participants to explore and engage with how Soneium empowers creators to bring their visions to life through blockchain-based experiences.
The second week will see users been given an indepth look at how Soneium works with its community and boosts communication and collaborations within the digital realm. The third and fourth weeks will look at the world of blockchain gaming and showcase how Soneium leverages entertainment and fosters user engagement.
Soneium is an Ethereum Layer-2 developed by Sony BSL was created to empower creativity and foster a more open and inclusive internet. Back on the 14th of January Sony launched the mainnet for Soneium to streamline blockchain interactions and provide a more user-friendly Web3 experience. It has been built on the OP Stack from the Optimism Foundation and the platform incorporates Sony's non0-fungible token (NFT) based Fan Marketing Platform and Soneium Spark, which support creators, developers, and fans.
Soneium also leverages partnerships with Sony Pictures, Sony Music, and Sony Music Publishing. These collaborations utilize NFTs to grant fans access to exclusive content and foster deeper engagement with their favorite artists and entertainment.
So far there has been a mixed response to the mainnet launch as some users praised the platform’s potential while others expressed concerns regarding the “blacklisting” of certain contract addresses. One user on 'X' noted that Soneium may have inadvertently harmed users by freezing contracts, potentially resulting in losses of up to $100,000 in Ether (ETH). This criticism rises from Soneium’s policy of restricting addresses suspected of intellectual property (IP) infringement, which is outlined in their official documentation.
Sonerium did clarify that its recent contract restrictions affected only two specific contracts due to IP violations. The company confirmed that users and developers have the right to appeal these decisions and that proactive communication is ongoing. According to Soneium, no funds were frozen, and the blacklist only restricted public RPC interaction with the flagged contracts.
Have a great day.
Peace. CryptoGod-1.
