MicroStrategy Renames to Strategy
The largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, MicroStrategy (MSTR) have rebranded as Strategy and the company have a Bitcoin symbol as part of their logo. Their primary focus in Bitcoin and AI, and they unveiled their new logo to show their unique position as a BTC Treasury Company. The company had total revenues of $120.7 million in the last quarter of 2024. Phong Le, President and CEO at Strategy, noted:
“Strategy is innovating in the two most transformative technologies of the twenty-first century – Bitcoin and artificial intelligence.”
Founder Michael Saylor noted the teasing of "Big Strategy Day" on Wednesday as mass speculation grew among supporters of the company. Under the leadership of Saylor the company has been accumulating Bitcoin since 2020 and they has spent over $20 billion to build its reserves. A seperate announcement from Strategy noted that its Q4 2024 financial results showed a net loss of $607.8 million. The losses incurred as Strategy stacked an additional 218,887 BTC. Phong Le noted:
“The fourth quarter of 2024 marked our largest ever increase in quarterly Bitcoin holdings, culminating in the acquisition of 218,887 Bitcoins acquired for $20.5 billion, since the end of Q3.”
The company saw total revenue $120.7 million in the last quarter of 2024, which is a 3.0% decrease year-over-year. Strategy are also targeting an annual dollar gain of $10 billion on its BTC holdings in 2025. Back in 2023 they revealed a 21/21 plan which involved investing $42 billion into equity and fixed-income securities to fund additional Bitcoin acquisitions over three years.
Currently Strategy have 471,107 in Bitcoin which is valued at $46.06 billion. The company is the largest corporation globally to hold Bitcoin. They stated:
“We have completed $20 billion of our $42 billion capital plan, significantly ahead of our initial timelines, while leading the digital transformation of capital in the financial markets.”
