Good day everyone,
I hope you are all having a good day, welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things crypto. In this post I will be looking at the recent warning issued by the FBI in relation to scam crypto exchange websites.
FBI Warning
The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have released a warning regarding the level of scammers who are pretending to be associated with cryptocurrency exchanges in an attempt to steal users funds. The FBI noted that the scammers are contacting their targets through calls or messages and in the process they are making themselves out to be employees of legitimate crypto exchanges. The scammers are making claims that there are some problems associated with the users accounts or that someone is attempting to compromise it.

These scammers are generally attempting to scare or rattle the potential victim as they make out that the user must act quickly to ensure the safety of their account. The scammer will then attempt to get access to the users access code, and often send them a malicious link or attempt to get their private identification information. This would then allow the scammers to access the user’s account and steal their digital assets.
The FBI went on to note that if crypto users receive a call or message stating there are problems with the users account, then the first action users must take is not to respond. From there the government agency noted users should follow this instruction even if the call of message seems legit and official. The FBI stated:
“Hang up. Call the cryptocurrency exchange’s official phone number to verify if there is a problem. Do not use any phone number the caller provides.”
The FBI went on to state that users should refrain from clicking on any links or going to websites the caller sends. The agency noted that it would be much safer to navigate to the official exchange separately. If the caller asks for a users login details then the FBI urges users to refrain from providing the information and avoid downloading files and attachments on the messages.
Finally, the FBI said users should report any activities related to scams directly to their official channels. The agency also noted that victims should provide transaction information associated with the scam.
Back in early June this year the FBI noted a rise in scam advertisements for fake work-from-home jobs. These scammers would make use of a a fake interface to trick users into thinking they are earning money. Users are then asked to make a crypto payment to unlock further job opportunities. None of these earnings are real, and instead all of the crypto goes directly to the scammers.
Have a great day.
Peace. CryptoGod-1.
