On Which Chains is SPS Available?

In the world of cryptocurrencies, a token can exist on one or more chains.

When this happens, one chain hosts the native version of the token, meaning the original one, while the others host a wrapped version, which is a token with the same characteristics as the original and implies the locking of an equivalent amount of the native version of the token — so as to never alter the token’s supply.

To move a token between two different chains, one can usually rely on a bridge, which may be decentralized or centralized, or on an exchange, which is centralized.

In the case of Splinterlands, the SPS token currently exists on 4 different chains:

• Hive-Engine
• Binance Smart Chain
• Ethereum
• Base

On Hive-Engine you’ll find the native version of the token, while on the other 3 chains there are wrapped versions.

Base, in particular, was only recently added, while on Binance Smart Chain you’ll find the pool with the largest liquidity: SPS-WBNB, with over $788k in liquidity.

Right after comes Hive-Engine, with the DEC-SPS pool reaching $400k.

Binance Smart Chain and Hive-Engine therefore represent the two best decentralized entry points to purchase SPS, even for those who wants to make very large purchases.

Ethereum and Base, on the other hand, currently have extremely small pools, making the purchase of SPS on these chains very inconvenient.

In the case of Base, however, this is probably only a temporary situation, especially considering that until just a few days ago the situation was quite different.

As it can be seen from this screenshot, five days ago over $200k in liquidity was removed in one go from the SPS-USDC pool on Base, perhaps in anticipation of further changes that could simplify the connection between Splinterlands and Base.

For now, in fact, moving SPS from Hive-Engine to Base is not easy and there is still no official interface that allows it; however, the situation should change soon, and it’s possible that at that point the pool’s liquidity will also be restored.

Simplifying access to Splinterlands

The existence of multiple versions of SPS on different chains and of pools with sufficient liquidity is the best way to encourage the inflow of new capital into the Splinterlands ecosystem.

Often people are used to operating on only a very limited number of chains, and supporting enough of them means increasing the chances that potential interested users won’t have to learn how to use a new chain or a new wallet in order to start investing, or playing, Splinterlands.

Not only that: the fact that SPS is a cross-chain token makes arbitrage possible and the creation of bridges necessary to move the token from one chain to another. These are all opportunities that can attract developers and investors, increasing the number of people and the amount of capital revolving around Splinterlands.

More people and more capital mean greater visibility, which in turn translates into the possibility of attracting potential new players who, thanks to the different existing versions of SPS, will have excellent chances of finding a simple and fast way to access what could become their new favorite game.

Su Quali Chain è Disponibile SPS?

Nel mondo delle criptovalute un token può esistere su una o più chains.

Quando ciò avviene, una chain ospita la versione nativa del token, ossia quella originale, mentre le altre una versione wrapped, ossia un token con le stesse caratteristiche dell'originale e che comporta il blocco di un pari quantitativo della versione nativa del token - in modo tale da non alterare mai la supply del token.

Per spostare un token fra due chains diverse solitamente ci si può avvalere di un bridge, che può essere decentralizzato o centralizzato, o di un exchange, che è centralizzato.

Nel caso di Splinterlands, il token SPS esiste attualmente su 4 chain diverse:

• Hive-Engine
• Binance Smart Chain
• Ethereum
• Base

Su Hive-Engine si trova la versione nativa del token, mentre sulle altre 3 chain esistono versioni wrapped.

Base, in particolare, è stata aggiunta solo di recente, mentre sulla Binance Smart Chain si trova la pool con maggior liquidità: SPS-WBNB, con oltre 788k dollari di liquidità.

Subito dopo si trova Hive-Engine, con la pool DEC-SPS che arriva a 400k dollari.

La Binance Smart Chain e Hive-Engine costituiscono perciò i due migliori punti di ingresso decentralizzati per acquistare SPS, anche per chi intende effettuare acquisti di importo molto rilevante.

Ethereum e Base, invece, hanno attualmente pool estremamente piccole, rendendo l'acquisto di SPS su queste chain molto poco conveniente.

Nel caso di Base, tuttavia, probabilmente si tratta solo di una situazione temporanea, soprattutto considerato che fino a qualche giorno fa la situazione era ben diversa.

Come si può vedere da questo screen, cinque giorni fa oltre 200k dollari di liquidità sono stati rimossi in un colpo solo dalla pool SPS-USDC su Base, forse in vista di qualche ulteriore modifica che semplifichi il collegamento tra Splinterlands e Base.

Per ora, infatti, spostare SPS da Hive-Engine a Base non è semplice e non esiste ancora un'interfaccia ufficiale che lo consenta; la situazione dovrebbe però cambiare a breve e può darsi che, in quel momento, anche la liquidità della pool sarà ripristinata.

Semplificare l'accesso a Splinterlands

L'esistenza di più versioni di SPS su chain differenti e di pool dotate di sufficiente liquidità sono il miglior modo per favorire l'ingresso di nuovi capitali all'interno dell'ecosistema di Splinterlands.

Spesso le persone sono abituate ad utilizzare solo un numero molto limitato di chain e supportarne abbastanza significa incrementare le possibilità che eventuali utenti interessati non debbano imparare ad utilizzare una nuova chain o un nuovo wallet per iniziare ad investire, o giocare, a Splinterlands.

Non solo: il fatto che SPS sia un token cross-chain rende possibile effettuare arbitraggi e necessario creare bridge per spostare il token da una chain all'altra. Queste sono tutte opportunità che possono attrarre sviluppatori ed investitori, aumentando il numero di persone e la quantità di capitali che ruotano attorno a Splinterlands.

Più persone e capitali significano maggior visibilità, che a sua volta si traduce nella possibilità di attrarre potenziali nuovi giocatori, i quali, grazie alle diverse versioni esistenti di SPS, avranno ottime possibilità di trovare un modo semplice e veloce per accedere a quello che potrebbe diventare il loro nuovo gioco preferito.
