Lend and Rent your Gaming NFTs

A few days ago, a bit fortuitously, I came across a site that I had already heard about from @acidyo in one of his Twitter posts.

It's a platform that promises its users to both rent and lend gaming NFTs, thus allowing players to have access to otherwise overpriced cards and the owners of them to make a profit, with no need to sell them.

The site is new, being about a year old, so the first question that comes to mind - the same question @acidyo asked - is whether the whole thing is legit or just a big scam.

In fact, in order to lend one's cards, one must transfer them to the site, which takes over full control of them... the risk of catching some kind of scam is therefore just around the corner, since - as we all know - "not your kyes, not your coins NFTs".

However, after doing some testing and checking that it was possible to easily get back my cards via the withdrawal procedure, I decided to take the risk, also because by checking the platform's social accounts and contacting customer service I received satisfying answers and explanations, which made me feel a bit more comfortable.

So, since I own NFTs on one of the supported games, i.e. Gods Unchained, I decided to do this test and see what happens.

I first signed up and connected my wallet via Metamask; the site then scanned the NFTs I owned and, after detecting my collection on GU, allowed me to start the transfer process.

The whole thing took me a while, because for some reason it was not possible for me to transfer more than about 30 NFTs at a time: I honestly don't know if the problem was mine, Immutable's, or the site's, however, I finally did it and, if all goes well, in a few hours I should see the first rewards available.

How much will they amount to? Certainly very little, about that I have few doubts: as you can see from the screen above, the rewards are indeed split among all lenders, taking into consideration the number and value of NFTs transferred to the site.

My percentage in the pool thus is very small, less than 0.01%, and although I do not know the value of the total reward, I can already guess that I should not make more than a few cents (or tens of cents).

Is it worth the risk of losing my entire collection for so little? I would say no...

But is it worth exploring and supporting an innovative platform that, tomorrow, I might also use as a gamer? Well, that probably is.

Of course, I hope that everything will go right, and maybe even to be a bit surprised by the rewards I will get: on the other hand, it had been more than a year since my cards had been sitting there gathering dust, completely unused and forgotten... so to finally have a way to make them worthwhile can only be exciting to me!

In conclusion, however, what makes the difference in my case is that I can afford to lose these NFTs: of course I would be very sorry, but my life would not change at all.

With this post therefore I am not advising anyone to do the same and, rather, I always invite everyone to do their own research (DYOR), especially since - even in case the site is 100% legit - something can still go wrong: in the event of a site hack, for example, we could see our account drained in a second... this is also a risk that should always be considered when dealing with centralized platforms.

That said, I hope to post a new update very soon with some new useful information and a report on my early gains :)

Presta e Noleggia i tuoi NFT

Qualche giorno fa, un po' per caso, mi sono imbattuto in un sito di cui già avevo sentito parlare da @acidyo in un suo post su Twitter.

Si tratta di una piattaforma che promette ai suoi utenti sia di noleggiare che di prestare NFT da gaming, consentendo così ai giocatori di avere accesso a carte altrimenti troppo costose ed ai proprietari delle stesse di trarne un profitto, senza necessità di venderle.

Il sito è nuovo, avendo circa un anno di vita, per cui la prima domanda che viene da porsi - la stessa che si è posta @acidyo - è se il tutto sia legit o solo un grosso scam.

Per prestare le proprie carte è infatti necessario trasferirle al sito, che ne assume il completo controllo... il rischio di prendere una qualche fregatura è quindi dietro l'angolo, dato che - come sappiamo bene - "not your kyes, not your coins NFTs".

Tuttavia, dopo aver fatto qualche test ed aver controllato che fosse possibile tornare facilmente in possesso delle mie carte tramite la procedura di prelievo, ho deciso di correre il rischio, anche perchè controllando gli account social della piattaforma e contattando il servizio clienti ho ricevuto risposte e spiegazioni soddisfacenti, che mi hanno fatto sentire un po' più tranquillo.

Quindi, dato che possiedo NFTs su uno dei giochi supportati, ossia Gods Unchained, ho deciso di fare questo test e vedere quel che succede.

Per prima cosa mi sono registrato ed ho collegato il mio wallet tramite Metamask; il sito ha poi analizzato gli NFTs in mio possesso e, dopo aver rilevato la mia collezione su GU, mi ha consentito di avviare la procedura di trasferimento.

Il tutto mi ha richiesto un po' di tempo, perchè per qualche motivo non mi è stato possibile trasferire più di una trentina di NFT alla volta: non so onestamente se il problema fosse mio, di Immutable o del sito, però alla fine ce l'ho fatta e, se tutto va bene, tra poche ore dovrei vedere le prime ricompense disponibili.

A quanto ammonteranno? Sicuramente a poca roba, su questo ho pochi dubbi: come potete vedere dallo screen soprastante, le ricompense vengono infatti suddivise tra tutti i lenders, prendendo in considerazione il numero ed il valore degli NFT trasferiti al sito.

La mia percentuale nella pool perciò è molto modesta, meno dello 0,01% e, sebbene non conosca il valore della ricompensa totale, posso già immagine che più di qualche centesimo (o decina di centesimi) non dovrei fare.

Vale la pena correre il rischio di perdere la mia intera collezione per così poco? Direi di no...

Ma vale la pena esplorare e supportare una piattaforma innovativa che, un domani, potrei utilizzare anche in veste di gamer? Ecco, questo probabilmente sì.

Naturalmente spero che vada tutto per il verso giusto, e magari di venire anche un po' sorpreso dalle ricompense che otterrò: d'altra parte era più di un anno che le mie carte stavano lì a prendere la polvere, completamente inutilizzate e dimenticate... per cui avere finalmente un modo per farle fruttare non può che essere interessante per me!

In conclusione, però, ciò che fa la differenza nel mio caso è che posso permettermi di perdere questi NFTs: certo mi dispiacerebbe parecchio, ma la mia vita non cambierebbe di una virgola.

Con questo post perciò non sto consigliando di fare altrettanto a nessuno ed, anzi, invito sempre tutti a fare le proprie ricerche (DYOR), soprattutto perchè - anche ove il sito sia 100% legit - qualcosa può comunque andare storto: in caso di hack del sito, ad esempio, potremmo veder svuotato il nostro account in un secondo... anche questo è un rischio che va sempre considerato quando si opera con piattaforme centralizzate.

Detto questo, spero di poter postare molto presto un nuovo aggiornamento con qualche nuova informazione utile ed un resoconto sui miei guadagni iniziali :)
