While the institutional interest in Bitcoin continues to grow and, consequently, the Bakkt platform continues to grind record (the last one on November 28th with a whopping 42.5mln dollars in 24 hours) a new news has ignited the enthusiasm of the community, especially the US one; Kelly Loeffler, CEO of bakkt, was in fact nominated by Brian Kemp (governor of Georgia) to replace a resigning senator and to compete in the next American political elections of 2020. The news was spread by the site of the local news daily AJC (acronym of Atlanta Journal-Constitution) on November 29th; according to what we learn, Loeffler could thus become the second woman in all of US history to be elected to the Senate from Georgia, but her appointment does not seem to agree with the whole Republican party. Donald Trump, in fact, would prefer to nominate Doug Collins, a tough and pure Republican, lined up with the arms lobby and pro-life movements, as well as an avid supporter of the president who, on the other hand, considers the Loeffler excessively moderate; only one of the two candidates will manage to win, available, in fact, there is only one chair, the one currently occupied by Senator Johnny Isakson, who will leave the Senate at the end of the year due to health problems.
Despite the power to nominate Isakson's successor, it belongs to the governor of Georgia (Brian Kemp, who in fact supports the appointment of bakkt's CEO), however, it will be necessary to be able to find an agreement with that part of the party, headed by Trump, who would prefer to settle Collins; the one, or she, who will replace Isakson for a few months until the end of the legislature will then, in all likelihood, have the possibility of contributing to the renewal of the US rooms scheduled for autumn 2020, in an election that many observers claim the Republicans should easily win and that, in the event, would see Trump's re-election for a second and final term. Although Loeffler does not enjoy Trump's sympathy, the Republican establishment relies heavily on her, even for the substantial funding that bakkt's CEO could bring to the party, as well as US bitcoiners hoping to earn a friendly voice in Senate that can contribute to the cause.
