USDt on Bitcoin's Lightning Network: How is it going so far?

By Novasky | DevPress | 19 Mar 2025

USDT aka Tether has been surviving the multiple race of the stablecoins. In case of USD they are not making any official stablecoin as of yet and allowing the industry to boost in. They are making the tarriff based economy and India and many other nations are dying to comply. So the new motion is going towards the USDt which is having the lightning network based USD stablecoin.

How does that solve the problem? It does not. Instead it is going to make the whole motion through the altcoins and the layer 2 chain based activity for the USD.

When they announced this in the January they were hoping this would be getting more powerful as the adoption adds. But the way they are going around I think the adoption would need things like social networks, small payments on Nostr etc. But the USDt is only going to make the tracking easier.

So while doing the Nostr payments I noticed nobody wants to use the Tether. And they are avoiding the other means to pay. Hell the Nostr community does not even want or care for the altcoins. They are invested into the SATS and the bitcoin forever.

This would be handy though for the international payments and also this would be their approach to getting most out of the POS and other payment terminals. If everything goes nice this would get better and we have something good to explore over and work with in the long term.

As for the core bitcoiners, I don't think they are adopting the USDt on lightning network.

Just not yet.
