Polygon one of the most looked after chain since 2021, is now broken, thanks to Sunflower Farmers. There are times when people lost the faith on the Ethereum and then Polygon type chains come in to show the people that you can cheaply transact on it. And then some game deploys the load to such an extent that even the Layer 2 solution breaks. 

Recently the Sunflower Farmer one such game has done it to the Polygon. And it affected entire chain. Unfortunately the developers took the snapshot and decided to pause the game and internal marketplace. They also officially posted note which circulated on reddit. 

What variables went wrong? 

I think behind the scene plenty of things went wrong. Something that even Polygon chain developers never thought something like this would happen. Nor the game developers who didn't thought of bots, gas fee jacking and other mechanism that usually happen to many Ethereum games yet due to high fees often normal public didn't notice much. 

However the gas fee on the Polygon used to be low that anyone could get into this game and in fact many people got in early. And then the fees started increasing to an extent nobody could do much on the chain for their small transactions inside the game.

What this means for Polygon?

I think both the polygon developers and the game developers need to find a way to circumvent the bots and the cheating methods that are common in the play to earn space. And based on this event, the chain has got the attention it needs from the market. So this will go both in favor and against it. 

So we have to wait and see where the Polygon goes after this incident.
