Hackers and the two-sided sword that is bitcoin.

Bitcoins are both friend and foe for hackers who seem to grow up fast in this rapidly developing world of cyber criminality. Today, decentralized cryptocurrency which was formerly known for the illegal acts and ransomware starts exhibiting it’s nature as destructions of some cyber criminals.

Hackers first saw the Bitcoin as a haven of sorts that offered them relatively safe havens for their identities and money. Nevertheless, with growing government authority to trace down digital currencies, such once prized transactional privacy is waning.

Regulatory scrutiny is another significant reason why the hackers avoid bitcoin. To start with, governments will be forced to set tough control measures on crypto transactions as well as cryptocurrency exchange platforms. The difficulty faced by these crooks is that they have no sanctuary to wash off their blood money. Remarkably, it is the same advanced technology designed to ensure privacy and anonymity that results in disclosure of such transactions, making those individuals vulnerable and subsequently incriminating them.

Some of these corporations still use “block chain analytics” to unearth criminal transactions. Some startups are now using more advanced analytics on top of block chain and it is with such that they have traced digital signatures that led to the culprits. Similarly, these firms are working together with pertinent security agencies that are engaged in investigating and prosecuting such cartels.

Therefore, hackers have to devise new strategies. Others tend to move on to coins which have high levels of anonymous or just go back to fiats thus leaving no track behind for using bitcoins. Nonetheless, others raise the same concerns and are likewise prohibited.

Transparency surely helps in the prevention hacking of bitcoin. However, it favors criminal investigations such as cyber-crime, big brother, and policing. Over the years, as the bitcoin space matures, the “cat and mouse game” between hackers and law enforcement becomes more complex. Technology has proven to be more resilient than illegitimate actions, ensuring increased security for the Internet which has been affected by the impacts Bitcoin caused in cybercriminality’s environment.
