Afternoon savvy skeletons,
This morning Dark Country announced via Twitter that the final time to purchase the exclusive Exodus Card set items is officially ending as mentioned before on Feb. 14th. A general promotional code (DF-6861-0DA8-06) for 20% off of purchases was released in the statement making the price thankfully a bit lower on items if you were on the fence about picking up a few more card packs.
Creating A Coupon
The process of using promotional codes on the Dark Country website is not explained very well but once you get the hang of it friends--it's not so bad! First you will use the public code, such as the one presented in the Twitter announcement, to input in to your account screen in the 'My Items' section. At the top right will be a small window for 'Redeeming Codes':

Input the public code and click 'Redeem Items' which allows you to generate a savings coupon specific to your account which will appear in the bottom of your inventory:

Once the coupon has been successfully added to your account you can use this during checkout to apply the savings amount to your total. As shown below I used my coupon to pick up a few of the less expensive Rare Card Packs as I had already purchased a bundle a only wanted a few more cards to supplement the other packs I have yet to open.

Once the discount is applied you will see the discount amount in the 'Saving' line below the adjusted total which means it was successfully applied. I use crypto, specifically ETH via the Meta Mask browser wallet, to purchase items but you can use a variety of external crypto payment methods as well as good old-timey credit cards.
One clever thing I have noticed is that once you use a promotional code and add a savings coupon to your account, the coupons do not appear (i will update this if it changes) to expire, meaning even if you do not wish to pick up additional Exodus Cards today you should still take the opportunity to add the discount coupon to your account!
Card Values
I would like to remind everyone that this is a game and should be treated as such. Investment opportunity is currently impossible to gauge and I would not recommend treating the assets in this manner at this time. Currently I don't look at my inventory as x amount of ETH = y rather x amount of ghoulish gunslingers = deck..
The reason for this is simple. Although Dark Country is a player-owned asset system, meaning your purchased items are added to your account via contract on the blockchain, the VALUES of such items is yet to be determined by the actual market. With the game not releasing in beta mode until April (Q2) we will have to wait and see if the cards are able to retain value through exchange.
In order for this to happen--Well, there needs to be incentive to hold the better cards right?
Hopefully we will see game modes which include prizes or prize pools which reward the holders of stronger decks for winning. This in turn drives the demand for better and rarer cards and so on and so forth. This is where we could potentially see large values on exclusive cards such as being offered in limited sets like Exodus Cards. I will cover valuation more in depth once the game in running full steam.
Multichain Framework & Exchange
The good news? Dark Country boasts of a multichain framework which provides full control of asset movement to the players. This is a healthy forecast for a good exchange economy within the game in my opinion:

Combine this speculative model with the flexibility of multi-asset and FIAT purchasing--trading or selling off cards should be a rather easy principle. Of course, I will cover this more once exchanging becomes a useable feature within the game!
So slap that coupon in your saddle bag friends! You never know when you could need it.
