Cryptocurrency is a digital currency that can be used to purchase goods and services, but uses an online ledger with strong cryptography to protect online transactions, this means that it is impossible to trace transactions which is why most criminals want to get paid in crypto. Most of the interest in these unregulated currencies is to trade for profit and then sell them for "normal" money, and speculators sometimes push crypto prices up.
Christina Morosino, CEO of San Francisco-based Coinbase Inc, stated that the digital wallets of cryptocurrencies are encrypted, so if there is no decryption key or signature, they cannot be stolen or changed.
This is done on exchanges and other companies. It provides a platform for buying and selling some cryptocurrencies through its website and apps, and has more than 40 offices around the world, one of which is in Vancouver (CoinDesk, August 10). Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Stellar Lumens, Dash, Monero, and other companies have launched their own tokens as a means of raising funds and creating networks to support distributed applications built on them.
