Hello,

I read some articles here on Publish0x about Ripple and XRP but I was still confused. So, I made some googling to better understand the difference between the different terms used when talking about XRP.

I hope this will help you remove any confusion that you still have, if you have any...

Ripple: is a private software solutions company. Its headquarters are at 315 Montgomery St, San Francisco, California, USA. It was founded in 2012 by Jed Mc Caleb and Chris Larsen as OpenCoin, Inc changed officially to Ripple Labs, Inc on September 26, 2013.

XRP: is the digital asset that runs on the XRP Ledger.

XRP Ledger: is an open source software created by Ripple in 2012. It keeps record of XRP ownership and provides a secure mechanism for executing financial transactions. None owns the XRP Ledger not even Ripple. 

RippleNet: is the global payments network of Ripple. Ripple uses XRP to settle international payments through RippleNet.

Market capitalization of XRP: 3 

Circulating supply of XRP: 43 978 966 311

Maximum Supply of XRP: 100 000 000 000

Can XRP be mined? No, XRP cannot be mined. The 100 billion XRP were premined by its creators. No more XRP will ever be created.
