There is one word more beloved to Crypto than the others: decentralization.
Each new blockchain promises to be faster, less expensive, more scalable and “more decentralized” than the previous one. But when you look at how people are using these systems, there is something peculiar:
The odd persons always opt for convenience rather than decentralisation.
That alters all that.
The contradiction nobody speaks of.
People say they want:
Full ownership
No censorship
Privacy
Self-custody
Financial freedom
But in reality?
Most users:
Calculate the amount of money that needs to be kept on exchanges.
Reuse weak passwords
Ignore wallet security
Choose simple applications over safe systems
Panic during volatility
Avoid dealing with a broken system, get support when it fails.
The answer is very simple:
The typical consumer doesn't want to be the bank.
They desire a system that is safe, quick, and easy.
This, after all, is why central platforms continue to take over even among a purportedly decentralized business.
Convenience is the top priority.
This is often demonstrated in history.
No one wanted to go out there and build the web in this decentralized way.Nobody originally wanted to go out there and create the web in this decentralized fashion.
They select it due to its usefulness.
The exact same is taking place in crypto these days.
Ideological projects tend to fail to become mass projects, and a project optimising:
user experience,
speed,
AI integration,
automation,
and onboarding
The growth of are much faster.
Consensus mechanisms, validator architecture probably doesn't matter to the next billion users.
They’ll care about:
Have you tried this app?Have you tried this app?
“Is there some way to profit from it?”
“Is it easy?”
“Can I trust it?”
That’s it.
The emergence of “Invisible Crypto”.The onset of “Invisible Crypto”.
The crypto future might not be as crypto as it seems.
Users won’t want:
seed phrases,
gas fees,
bridge confusion,
complicated wallets,
Or infinite switching in the network.
The winning systems can be entirely hidden from view in the background.
As people now do:
The majority of Internet users have little understanding of TCP/IP.
Most drivers don't know an engine.
The vast majority of gamers do not know the workings of GPUs.
And soon:
Most crypto users will have no idea about blockchains, either.
They will just be using products that are fueled by them.
Changing the game: AI + Crypto.Changing the game: AI + Crypto.
AI is coming into the ecosystem.
It's here where things get dangerous—interesting.
AI agents can:
automate trading,
manage wallets,
analyze sentiment,
detect scams,
and autonomously even interact with smart contracts.
This means that humans could cease to be the major players of the blockchain infrastructure in the future.
Instead:
AI systems may transact with other AI systems,
execute payments instantly,
Automate and optimize liquidity with automation.
Then, decentralization ceases to be a philosophy and more an efficiency layer on the back end.
So What Actually Matters?
Long running projects are likely to be those that are not:
the loudest,
the most ideological,
For the most “revolutionary.”
It's going to be the ones that are going to be solving real-world problems and hiding complexity.
Mass adoption cannot come when it is complex.
It's simple and straightforward.
Crypto has yet to do so, though.
