Italy, Lithuania & Sweden welcomes Bitcoin Technology
Consumers and Politicians in Italy, Lithunia and Sweden are exploring the adoption of Bitcoin and digital assests, as the European Union considers developing it's own digital currency to rival Facebook's crytocurrency project Libra.
Based on the market data provider Statista reveals that the Italy has an estimated 835 stores and companies now accept Bitcoin as of November of 2019, unlike before italian residents prefer cash over other payment methods. The good thing about it, is the the country also currently has 62 Bitcoin ATM's installed across several different cities. Do you know that, Lombardy, Trentino-South Tyrol and Veneto are Italy's leading regions for BTC adoption.
Aside from this, Lithuania's reserve bank is set to launch a blockchain-based digital taoken for collectors in the spring of 2020 as the country plans to expand its fintech ecosystem.
Same goes in Sweden, the central bankers at Riksbank say they are working with leading consultancy firm Accenture to create a test pilot for its digital currency project called e-krona.
The e-krona's project main goal is to broaden the institution’s "understanding of the technological possibilities for the e-krona.”
Using of cash has dropped in Sweden, the country's central bank is now considering whether it should launch a digital currecny. Right now, Riksbank only offers digital money to banks and other participants in the Swedish payment system which they called RIX.
