Hey crypto enthusiastic did you hear the news……….
I guess not... So here is the brief summary sit tight with me.
Unlike previous crypto conferences this one attracted people outside the coder community. The event had more in common with a political gathering than a normal tech conference. There were techies, freedom lovers and Trump fans all standing next to one another shaking their red hats and saying Bitcoin would be the money of the future.
Wait… what? Isn’t Bitcoin meant to stay away from government control? You may ask.
This is when things in the story get especially interesting.
You do remember why Bitcoin was originally designed don’t you? To refresh your memory, it was to take on the Establishment.
For a moment, let’s go back and consider this.
Bitcoin was designed in 2009 to express opposition to how the financial system works. It was a money that was not in controlled by banks, government and any middlemen. It was a way to oppose any control over money.
For me, it served as the favorite currency for tech rebels, fans of privacy and anyone believing in a future that is not controlled by central authorities.
However, by 2025, a lot has happened and things are not the same anymore.
BTC enters the politician category.
For this year’s conference important political figures played the main role. People referred to Trump as the “crypto president.” They announced that his candidacy would make cryptocurrency like Bitcoin official, regulated and recognized by the U.S. government.
That appears to be a move in the right direction.
From the perspective of crypto veterans, it was like a betrayal.
Experts agree and the Bitcoin OG put it simply:
No one in our revolution wanted to have politicians take away our newly gained Bitcoin freedom.
The Facts Behind the Truth Social Bitcoin ETF
The big twist no one was ready for finally appeared.
Trump Media & Technology Group applied to set up a Bitcoin ETF that supports Truth Social. In effect it is similar to a stock that allows people to buy into Bitcoin indirectly.
Still keeping in mind that institutions are the ones in charge of ETFs. Therefore, more power is going to Wall Street which is what Bitcoin was designed to fight against.
They are part of a bigger group. Firms like BlackRock and Fidelity are posting their own Bitcoin ETFs.
That being said the key question becomes:
Is Bitcoin still connected to the idea of freedom? Has it now become just a way for politicians and businesspeople to make money?
The competition over Bitcoin final battle?
Today, Bitcoin is in a situation where its future will be shaped. Sometimes the purist’s side of the argument is to keep Bitcoin free, decentralized and not affected by any government. Whereas politicians and big companies work towards making it part of the system. Earning money is just one part of it these days. It deals with power, personal convictions and what might happen to our freedoms in the future.
So, what is the next step?
Can Bitcoins end up becoming a form of money that the government sanctions and manages?
Will it continue resisting or give in to those who want to tame it?
This is what is happening in our world today paying attention to this subject is important because its outcome could be felt beyond crypto. It could have a huge impact on global finance.
