I’m in a bit of a pickle. I am trying to make a decision as to what is the next video game I want to sink my money into to really enjoy. I don’t mind dropping a couple dollars into a really good, well-designed game but I don’t want is to buy something that turns out to be a piece of garbage that was over-inflated marketing and has little substance.
Point Me in the Right Direction
Personally, I tend to be the type of gamer that likes a combination of first-person shooter and adventure. In other words, I like to go exploring. I don’t mind a little bit of a storyline, but I do like to engage directly, and I do like to explore different universes or environments. It’s probably why things like Skyrim or the Star Wars series of video games probably appealed to me quite a bit because they were a greater universe of what I could explore. World of Warcraft was the same. I’m one of those that played Ultima Online too. While I liked it and it did have a lot of adventure, watching a little icon movie across the screen or getting ganked at warp gates wasn’t necessarily the best video game experience. But, you know, that’s what was available at the time.
Been There, Done That
My last game that I put some time into all the way through the entire store line was Cyberpunk 2077. No, I wasn’t the first gamer to jump on board and try it out as well as experience the 50,000 glitches that the original release had. I was one of the last ones. So, fortunately I missed all the headaches (although the game did still hang up quite a bit), but I enjoyed the storyline. I also enjoyed the scenery, the environment and the detail as well as the action. Fortunately, the storyline was very short. I got done with it, in I think about maybe two weeks, which was basically just a couple couple hours a night, not very long for what supposed to be in immersive game.
There’s a couple candidates out there. Definitely, I’ve been hearing a ton of chatter and interest on Starfield. I’m also hearing a lot of chatter about Hellfire. Although to me, Hellfire just looks like an amped-up version of Titanfall. I wouldn’t mind playing something again if I could find it had an expansive universe that I could build on but, unfortunately, I just keep seeing reruns of Skyrim, just different packaging and with different colored bows on the top.

Gotta Reconfigure My Resources
I would probably spend more time on PC gaming versus console gaming if I had the space on my computer. Unfortunately, my working gaming computer is clogged up with a whole lot of my productivity tools and various other projects that I’m working on, as well as my crypto stuff, so that’s not necessarily my most viable package. While I do have a gaming tower, it’s a Linux platform which kind of rules me out of a good number of games unless I go through the hassle of figuring out a Vine format type version of the game, so I’m kind of stuck trying to figure out what to do here.
I have heard that there is the ability to do a Linux Red Dawn Redemption, which I might try and play around with, or I may spend my time just going back to Eve Online, which I got working on my computer and it was doing fine, but I really want to try something new. I just haven’t found the ideal package to sink my teeth into.
Maybe I Should Just Go Back to Minecraft
I might be spoiled, because I’ve been spending the last two years with far too much time on Blockchain games, mainly just for the purpose of earning money. I really want to go back to a game that I just play for the fun of playing it, which was the original interest I always had in gaming in the first place. And when I’m bored, you know, there’s always the old standard of Minecraft. Believe it or not, as stupid as that game is it does tend to be very relaxing, and I can pick up where I left off just about anytime. It doesn’t matter if I don’t play it for six months, I can go right back to Minecraft and continue. I think that’s the fundamental purpose of gaming and, of course, having fun.
