AlienWorlds Boosts Readership

AlienWorlds Boosts Readership

I'll be honest; I hate Telegram. I tried it out during the pandemic and really dug deep. People are always so shocked when I say that, but it's also a similar reason why I don't dive into TikTok either. Unfortunately, just about every experience I have had with Telegram ended up being some kind of crypto scam operation trying to get people to buy into a crap made-up token for some game or new network to be launched, that would never happen. So, now I have a built-in aversion to anything Telegram automatically.

AlienWorlds, by their own statement in a recent Medium article, notes they have heavily relied on Discord and Telegram for connecting and keeping their players up-to-date on goings-on. However, luddites like me will never touch Telegram, and the Alien Worlds Discord is so bloated with so many different channels, it's extremely hard to keep up with everything without dedicating a few hours to it every morning.

In fact, I am very guilty of just relying on other discord channels and forums where I talk regularly to be aware of different events and changes as they come up on second-hand discussions and gossip. I unfortunately get more information that way faster than trying to read every AW channel for changes.

Fortunately, AW has leveraged the Mission Control tool further to push out major game news in one place. This added feature makes it easy to read through the big notices on my schedule versus trying to chase things down through discussions or filter through every Discord channel, losing time. Working two jobs, I don't have 2-3 hours to spare doofing on the Internet. So I want to find things quick. This added benefit in Mission Control is exactly perfect for older players like myself who are more interested in the "daily newspaper" type engagement than disparate social postings all over the place. The image AW chose for their Medium article hit the target perfectly, from my audience perspective.

Another change was added as well, Adventures, which I believe replaced the older AW Missions in Miner's Union (I'm sure Dr. Yunani will correct me otherwise eventually as my adopted AW editor for my writings). These items require you to build up sufficient NFT points in your mining to access them. And they take about a week to play out each time. However, they put your otherwise "useless" AW NFTs to work (crew, weapons, weird stuff), and you get paid from an award of TLM (in-game token) when the adventure ends. It can range from a few TLM to dozens of TLM, depending on the setup you engage for the given Adventure.

So, if you haven't played AW in a long time, be like me and get back into it. Mission Control makes the game so much more enjoyable now. Oh, and by the way, as Dr. Yunani reminds us all the time, DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!
