#marchinleo Day 31. The month is almost gone. $LEO is looking good too, as I will reach 32K LP on the next power-up day. My target of 35K is looking quite real for now. Not only that I delegated all my LEO, but I have also delegated 440 Hive to @leo.power, aiming to reach 500 Hive eventually.
What happened in crypto in the past week? BlackRock is going all-in into BTC. SOL and AVAX are the best-performing altcoins lately. FTX founder got a 25-year sentence. Kucoin is under SEC attack, but they offered a great airdrop to thank its loyal users. What else? Read below:
- Bitcoin: BTC is back to $70K, hovering up and down. The London Stock Exchange is about to give BTC and ETH a major vote of confidence, as they are set to launch exchange-traded notes (ETN) tracking the performance of these two largest cryptocurrencies. BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust has become the fastest-growing ETF in history. Hong Kong received some new interesting BTC ETF filings. Hashdex and Tidal Investments converted their BTC Futures ETF into Spot BTC ETF.
- Ethereum: Grayscale is still optimistic about the ETH ETF approval, despite the SEC's silence on the matter. Bitwise filed for Spot ETH ETF amidst regulatory uncertainty.
- Altcoins and stablecoins: SOL and AVAX are top-performing altcoins, with 15% and 18% up since their recent lows. Coinbase is getting ready to migrate some customer and corporate accounts holding USDC over to the Base Network, their own ETH rollup. Tether (USDT) is launching a new division dedicated solely to AI initiatives. Major crypto AI projects SingularityNet, Fetch.ai, and OceanProtocol are thinking of merging, combining their coins and forming an alliance worth $7.5B. Each of them three tokens went up at least 30%. Ethena Labs is getting ready for a $750M airdrop (check this one https://www.mantle.xyz/rewards-station if you have some idle Mantle tokens). Dogwifhat went 28% up reaching an impressive $3.97 per token.
- NFTs and blockchain games: Blast-based game Munchables was exploited, losing $62M. On Splinterlands, the second round of Conflicts airdrop activity ended. I got 3 regular cards. The third part of Conflicts airdrop started. You may also want to check Holozing - a soon-to-be-launched Pokemon-like game on the Hive blockchain.
- Good news: Coinbase share price is back, up to $279, which is quite cool since it was down to $33.26 in January 2024. SWIFT, the backbone of the traditional banking system, is exploring how they could integrate CBDCs with the financial infrastructure. Panasonic is partnering with Jasmy to create a Web3 project. We do not know yet what this is about. The FTX estate secured a deal to sell the majority of its stake in AI startup Antropic for $884M. HSBC Bank introduces blockchain-powered tokenized gold to retail banking in Hong Kong.
- Bad news: Federal prosecutors have charged Kucoin Exchange and its two founders with failure to implement adequate anti-money laundering safeguards and running an unlicensed money transmission business, linked to darknet black markets, malware rackets and fraud schemes. Kucoin countered this FUD by announcing a $10M airdrop in KCS and BTC, for the community, rewarding those who experienced longer-than-expected waiting times taking crypto out of the exchange (10 to 200$), they want to reward the loyal users too, the ones having a big amount of KCS, and did not sell during those few days when the SEC announced the bad news. The SEC is also proposing almost $2B in penalties against Ripple for its alleged violation of the securities laws. Following a $11.6M exploit of Prisma Finance, the hacker sent a strange on-chain message saying "Hi, this is a whitehat rescue, who can I contact to refund". The US and the UK are investigating $20B in crypto transactions, using USDT, linked to a Russian-based exchange called Garantex.
- Joke of the week: The FTX circus finished, finally, with its founder, SBF, being handed a 25-year federal prison sentence, the time already served would be deducted from his sentence, resulting in 291 months in prison. Memecoins inspired by the sentence appeared on Solana, Base and a few other blockchains, and we got Som Bonkmon Fraud token which went 15.000% up during the sentence, only to drop 90% within 24 hours after everything ended.
