First a big thank you to those that read my latest post, liked, tipped, and followed over the past couple of days. It is inspiring to say the least to keep adding more content beyond the couple posts a week I had been figuring on. For those of you that read the Week 4 post as with each month of my project I am exploring and experimenting with some aspect of crypto currency in some way. I don't rightly know why I had not thought about documenting my faucet experiment during February. Thinking back I really should have, but I doubt it would have been that interesting.
Here are the details of the one for March:
As always this month will see a new experiment of sorts that I believe will do better than that of the first one by leaps and bounds. For this experiment over March I have downloaded the CryptoTab Browser. Here's how this is going to work with the limits that I have when it comes to any lucrative mining. My prediction for this experiment is that while the Satoshi gains will be modest at best that they will still be higher than using a faucet which only produced 7k Satoshi over 30 days. Remember this more out of fun and just trying something different than to make huge amounts. However, anything gained is of course welcomed with open arms and wallet.
1. Run the miner (off peak hours only).
2. Mine from one source only (my laptop).
3. Cash out every 7th day.
4. Mini weekly gains report.
5. Full BTC gains posted at the end of the month.
Week one details:
True to the first point I have only set CryptoTab to mine during the night while I sleep (during off peak hours) so that I don't tamper with the settings or mess with the gains in any way. This also lends to a more true number and consistency to the experiment which is much needed factor and should lead to maximum gain as it allows the experiment to utilize the maximum number of hashes.
I have also held true to the second point and have not used the android version to mine any satoshi. Even though the gains would have been tiny in comparison at only 80 - 90 hashes it could throw off any true data to be had for the experiment. The point is to use only a single source to better show any gains over the seven day period with a consistent hash rate ranging between 1,550 and 1,600 on average.
Over the first seven day with the consistent hash rate of using only the laptop to mine has brought in 3,207 satoshi or the equivalent of about .25 USD. This total has been sent to my Uphold account, however, the transaction is still pending since I sort of forgot to do it before heading to work this morning. It seems that the transaction may take up to 24 hours before I receive the funds to the account. Just a quick edit since originally posting this. Here is the proof of payment sent to me minus the wallet address for security sake.

As I had hypothesized the gains of this if they hold at a consistent level will prove to be a better source than the utilization of three faucets used multiple time per day over 30 days. After a single week I have gained almost half of what those generated. I believe that this experiment will prove more as it goes on for the rest of the month since realistically only a single data point has been added.
I look forward too what this project has in store for the next week and beyond. More importantly, I hope to show that even someone with an average computer can at the very least produce some satoshi even if it is small in comparison to the big guns out there with true mining hardware and mass GPUs to throw at something like this. I know with a certainty that very little in the way of value in monetary or crypto gains is to be expected on this venture and that is not the point of it. This is for fun and a learning experience for me personally. If in the process you all find something of value to the experiment that is even better. Thank you for tuning in and taking a look at this project and see you next Monday for another update!
