If only we knew the importance of the Ethereum blockchain sooner. It was known long ago that the Ethereum blockchain was the best blockchain to build projects on. But what we had never expected was that when crypto became mainstream, Ethereum would become our world. Back in the old days of crypto, you would have to scour Web3 to try and find Dapps. It wasn't yet known back then that Ethereum would be what it is now. A virtual world.
It's currently May 23, 2049 and for the last five years or so, people have lived and worked almost constantly in this virtual world. People don't have to leave their houses to shop, go to work, or go to school except in this virtual Ethereum world. Their are many currencies here, but Ethereum is the basis of it all, and is mandatory to own if you want to live in this world.
There is no significance of the date May 23, 2049. Other than it is the day that I am currently writing on. Fiat currencies are still used, although many people prefer to use central bank digital currencies (CBDC's) instead of physical money. Some argue that this hyper electronic world is under threat of a major EMP blast or increased fears of hackers. These things though have always been a threat to our society, it's just that now that less people use physical currency, it's more noticeable.
The world of the Ethereum blockchain is one where people play games, socialize, and work using non-fungible token avatars. These NFT avatars are the Ethereum persona's of the individual using them. Some people prefer to have multiple avatars for various occasions, but it's less common as NFT avatars are expensive. Most people usually just use one for all activities.
There is a worry that people might spend too much time in this virtual world where it could cause people to starve or dehydrate themselves. Another fear is that people might believe that the Ethereum world is the real world. These are legitimate concerns, but most people that operate in the virtual world, use software parameters to force them out after a certain amount of hours. Another group of people believe that this world is akin to the Matrix. However, no one group or person is controlling this virtual world. The millions of people around the world that have Ethereum staked are the ones keeping the virtual world afloat.
It is not completely known if the Ethereum world could be hacked using a corruptible smart contract. As far as I and my colleagues know, due to the millions of users staking on the blockchain, there isn't any centralized control. The only way to centralize control would be to compromise all of the Ethereum wallets and staked coins. Let's just hope that that doesn't happen.
Anyways, all is well in the Ethereum Virtual World.
