Adam Back as Satoshi Nakamoto

NYT's Major Claim: Adam Back Is the Mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto

By Yugocean | Crypto Champion | 9 Apr 2026

Report by John Carreyrou

In an extensive investigative report published in April 2026, _The New York Times_ journalist John Carreyrou alleged that British computer scientist Adam Back is, in fact, the true creator of Bitcoin—Satoshi Nakamoto. To support this assertion, Carreyrou cited various databases revealing deep similarities between Satoshi and Back. However, Adam Back and his company, Blockstream, have denied the claim.

Analysts' Reactions

Analysts within the crypto world have offered mixed reactions to this development. While some experts consider the evidence—linking Satoshi's writing style to Back's coding expertise—to be compelling, others argue that no claim can be substantiated until there is activity or a digital signature (PGP key) originating from Satoshi's known Bitcoin wallets.

My Point

For common crypto people like us, Bitcoin has evolved into an idea—one whose success doesn't hinge upon the identity of its original creator. If the original Satoshi wishes to remain anonymous, he should be allowed to do so; repeatedly floating various names is merely a tactic employed by the media to generate publicity.
