Bitcoin situation in Germany

Germany Raids Crypto industry behind ATMs

By Yugocean | Crypto Champion | 22 Aug 2024

The Raid

German authority BaFin is taking on crypto machines (ATMs). According to different reports, 13 Bitcoin and Altcoin machines across 35 locations of the Nation were taken down, 25 million Euros in cash were also seized from those ATM owners. Those owners might face up to five years in prison.

A fault in name is an excuse for authorities

According to some analysis, describing those crypto machines as ATMs is the wrong idea, which is why authorities have an excuse to act against them. ATMs (Any Time Money) need verification and follow the money and bank-related regulation processes, while crypto machines are like local exchange devices.

The law is so elusive

Just last month, the German government crashed the crypto market by selling a large number of seized bitcoins on oversea centralised exchanges, but now it is targeting common people's buy-and-sell. The law is so elusive; it is made by people in power to crush those whom they rule. People need freedom from such unnecessary pressure.
