On October 7, someone on the BNB chain hacked 2 million BNB valued at approximately $600 million. Binance's security team immediately swung into action.

The Exploit 

All deposits and withdrawals through the BNB chain were temporarily suspended and the chain was put into maintenance. By the time the chain was fixed, the hacker was able to move $100 million worth of BNB into another chain from where it could not be recovered.

The market Effect 

BNB is considered the safest. This hack caused complete chaos on the crypto market, although the market started recovering after the chain was fixed, but there is no information available about the hacker yet. Right now, Binance is trying to find out who or what group is behind this hack.

Within a few hours of this, Binance removed two pairs of HNT (HNT/BTC and HNT/USDT) and one pair of OKI (OKI/BNB) from its trading list.
