On August 11th, when going in for gallbladder removal, it was discovered that my sibling Caleb (they/them) had an enlarged heart. Upon further examination, it was found that they were in heart failure and had several clots built up inside the heart, as well as in the lungs. They were admitted to the ICU the next day, and then transferred to a specialty hospital in Charleston, South Carolina, where they remain currently.

It was decided on August 17th that they would need a new heart, and we (the family and healthcare team) are currently seeking out that new heart for them. We are also seeking funding to cover the enormous cost of a heart transplant.

I have tried several routes already with varying degrees of success. There is a GoFundMe that I created and it has raised $100 so far from a (low) goal of $2,500. I have also started a DAO via HappyKitties on DeSo, which is already a joint-venture between myself and my sister Abby, but we have not raised any money from that method so far. It's understandable given that it is a bear market and many people are short on cash or have their own financial dilemmas to worry about. I'm not faulting anyone for not contributing. However, I am trying new methods, in addition to the ones already covered.

I am currently working on a new NFT series entitled Caleb's Heart that is a series of heart-related images minted on OpenSea, the art is created with pre-drawn images on Canva. There is also a DeSo collection that is entirely original and exclusive to DeSo for the time-being. Now what does that mean? It means that I will not cross-post any of these images to another blockchain without first burning the original on DeSo. Of course, I don't want to burn any of them, but this endeavor is a bit time-sensitive so I am trying to use every trick I know to raise as much money as possible so we can help Caleb get the best heart they can get!
You can find the DeSo collection on NFTz here.
If you have any interest in the OpenSea collection that one can be found here.
Also, if you have an interest in the GoFundMe that is here, and the DAO page is here.
