ING customers in Germany can get exposure to Bitcoin through crypto ETNs, but there is an important difference: you are not actually buying Bitcoin.
ETNs are financial products that track the price of crypto. You buy them through your securities account, just like other investments.
ING reportedly offers around 50 crypto ETNs from five different issuers. Some promotions even offer zero order fees, but the products can still have ongoing costs of around 1% per year.
There is also another thing to consider: the risks and taxes.
Since ETNs are debt securities, you face the risk of the issuer, and the tax treatment can depend on the exact product. Some ETNs may qualify for the one-year tax-free holding rule in Germany, while others may not.
Personally, I think this is an interesting option for people who want Bitcoin exposure without dealing with crypto wallets and exchanges.
But if you want to actually own your Bitcoin and control your coins yourself, an ETN is not the same thing.
As always, make sure you understand what you are buying before investing.
