Crypto regulations being a key area of concern in the upcoming G20 meeting, India FM Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized that cooperation among all nations is essential. During the Global Fintech Fest held in Mumbai, she highlighted the key role of India's G20 presidency in addressing crypto asset-related issues and fostering active discussions on a global framework.
“India’s Presidency has put on table in the G20 issues related to regulating or understanding that there should be a framework for handling issues related to crypto assets,” Sitharaman addressed the Global Fintech Fest.
Taking a cautious approach, she further explained that the world has to come under one roof to create a responsible financial system. In her views crypto crypto as innovation is an opportunity only if it's dealt with global cooperation.
“Crypto (is a) threat as well as an opportunity. But crypto is also an example to say how unless global cooperation works out well, you are not going to be able to have a responsible financial ecosystem which can regulate it as well,” she said.

She declared, "Active discussions are happening".
Last week, the two organizations circulated a synthesis paper on crypto regulations, serving as a blueprint for member countries ahead of the G20 Conference of Finance Representatives. This synthesis paper, slated for public release on September 7, aims to provide clarity and outline a comprehensive plan for regulating cryptocurrencies.
