FINALLY!! I Can Free My BAT From Uphold!

As many of my fellow Brave users know I have suffered from the stranglehold that Uphold has on my earned BAT but finally today I broke free! I have used Brave for a couple of years now and I still remember when BAT transactions WERE FREE and I could easily send BAT from Uphold to wherever I wanted. They raised the amount of BAT you had to send to 25 BAT or above to be free than 100 BAT then eliminated the program entirely.

Up until this point I never really "hated" Uphold since it was a free transaction however they rapidly fell out of favor with me once they started changing the rules and even better not telling anyone until after it had already happened! I was hoping that with the Brave 2.0 Road Map being laid out and since it included a wallet that Brave would be pretty quick in moving away from being tethered to Uphold. While that has not been the case and I continue to wait for the day that I can choose where I would like to deposit my earnings it is what it is and so I keep rolling with Uphold.

What has changed so much the last few days though has been the cost of using Ethereum. I remember a few months ago I looked at the cost of sending the like 60 BAT I had at the time to either my MetaMask or Coinbase and it was going to cost 37 BAT or more than half of the amount! With gas prices going down though I have been able to utilize the blockchain more and do more of what I wanted to with my different cryptos. This morning it finally dawned on me that I should look at moving my BAT that had grown to over 77 BAT!

I almost was ecstatic when I set up the transaction to my MetaMask account and saw that it was only going to cost me a little over 2.7 BAT to move! For the longest time when I would look at moving it would be at a minimum of 13-15 BAT which would have been around $10 or move to move. The 2.7 BAT it was going to cost me was right around $1.70 and I could not hit send fast enough to finally move my BAT off of the crazy crazy exchange. Uphold is an exchange that is just plain expensive with their fees and what they have to offer. It bamboozled me to see that they really have users since it is easier to find much better ratios elsewhere.

While I still will have to get my earning sent to this wallet I am ecstatic I was able to finally move some of them off so that I can use them if I so chose! With the year roughly halfway through I am hoping that Brave soon releases some more details about the wallet and DEX they were looking at rolling out this year. For now though the 74 BAT I was able to free was my big accomplishment for the day and something I am super happy about!
