Brave has decided to announce some fantastic news for users before Christmas! A pre-Christmas gift will be highly beneficial to both the users who use it for the Web3/crypto features and those who use it for privacy protection reasons! Typically, their updates come the last week just days before the following month so it is interesting to see this earlier update and something that makes me wonder if they are setting up for additional news to come out! Without further ado here is what they announced!

Eleven more Brave Wallet integrations!

As has become the custom the team has announced its newest Brave Wallet partners! As has become the trend some of these I have experience with or know of and others I do not really have much of an idea but here they are.

  • an identity management tool for Web3 across chains for consumers and DApps
  • Civic was also a Coinbase Earn crypto over a year ago
• DeFi Land
  • free-to-play farming game with crypto elements to encourage use and learning
  • Honestly sounds a lot like Farmville from long ago

  • a collection of 10,000 NFTs on Solana and was the first large-scale, truly trustless drop that helped launch the blockchain into the public domain
• EDGE
  • Watch2Earn platform that can be added to video streaming sites and apps to increase revenue through increased ad consumption and content sharing 
  • Users can earn by watching ads and sharing content
• Froggy Friends
  • 4,444 friendly frogs on the Ethereum blockchain 
• Hubble Protocol
  • DeFi product that provides borrowing solutions with USDH, an overcollateralized, crypto-backed stablecoin users can mint to participate in DeFi on Solana

  • a protocol striving to become Solana's number one liquidity destination offering a wide variety of opportunities to earn yield from the Solana DEX ecosystem 
• Kwenta
  • a decentralized exchange offering up to 25x synthetic leverage on various assets
  • achieves its leverage by using CHainlink oracles and deep liquidity from Synthetix
• Orca
  • the leading crypto marketplace on Solana with a human-centered design to make trading, earning, or building in Web3 accessible for anyone
  • contains a concentrated liquidity AAM for traders, advanced liquidity provision tools for market makers, and for developers a double-audited, open-source SDK, and expert developer advocates to simplify building
• Push Protocol
  • a communication protocol for Web3 that enables cross-chain notifications and messages for DApps, wallets, and services tied to wallet addresses in an open, gasless, and platform-agnostic fashion
  • Currently on the Ethereum and Polygon blockchains with over 100 integrations, 45 million notifications, and over 60,000 subscribers
• Slingshot
  • a DeFi application and wallet on Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Binance, and Osmosis that allows you to buy, sell, and trade over 40,000 cryptos with 0% swap fees

New Privacy-Preserving Data Approach

An ongoing issue with security and privacy on the internet and various services is how to retrieve an item from a database without revealing anything about the query to the server. To address this Brave has built a new Private Information Retrieval (PIR) scheme called FrodoPIR. The idea is that FrodoPIR will make PIR easier and cheaper to deploy for a variety of uses like safe browsing, checking passwords over breached databases, and streaming among countless other uses.

This product is now available to be used now and has undergone a ton of testing by Brave. Previous solutions to retrieving data from a database without a server knowing were extremely complex and took up a ton of bandwidth or time to process. Over time and a ton of iterations, the Brave team was able to develop a new and unique solution that addresses these cost issues by getting rid of the ring lattice structures. Replacing these typically used structures with their new offline and online scheme allows for FrodoPIR to be much more communicational and computationally cost-efficient leading to protected users that are better than the competition. 

Final Thoughts

With the additional integration to the Brave Wallet Brave has now integrated with 85 partners since they began this in June! That is a huge feat that really should be championed given the current market climate! The Brave Wallet has come so far in the second half of the year from where it was when the user interface was extremely basic and left so much to be desired! I have coworkers that use Brave at work and home for their privacy-preserving features so it is fantastic to see that they are continuing to develop and implement new features that will help better protect users across the board!
