For the most part May was a pretty quite month for Brave Browser when it came to news/updates. Even though they did not blog about it one of the biggest developments for them had to be Gemini releasing 97% of the assets tied up in the Gemini Earn program. BAT was one of the options to lend and with the partnership between Brave and Gemini it allowed the lending of BAT by users to be really simple and easy.
There was one development though that they did blog about and I am not sure how people will recieve it. If you are someone like me who loves being able to earn as much BAT as possible then this could be another huge win! This addition was not just thrown into the mix though and was something that the Brave Team spent 18 months on developing, testing, and incorperating feedback ect.. Brave Ads have rolled out to Brave Search which unlike Google isnt mixed in and is rather clearly listed at the top of your search as seen below.
As stated in the Brave Blog update:
"Leading brands such as Amazon Ads Sponsored Products, Dell, Fubo, Insurify, Shutterstock, and Thumbtack are using Brave Search Ads as part of their performance marketing strategies.
As of April 2024, a third of the top search advertisers in the US by media spend are either currently testing or have moved to paid Brave Search Ads campaigns. Since the beginning of the year, 89% of customers who started Brave Search Ads campaigns have continued to advertise in consecutive months."
Importantly Brave stays true to its core mission on privacy. Search continues to maintain user privacy while also offering these sponsered posts which allow users to very more ads and thus earn more BAT. Currently, Brave Search Ads are only avaiable in a few countries in the West like the U.S., Canada, U.K., and France. While avaiable in those countries it is only avaiable to those who meet certain thresholds for minimum ad impressions thus allowing the advertisers to reach users who actually might like it as well as prevent those who just use the browser and collect the ads without paying attention to them from getting our search disturbed!
