Example
Picture this: it’s a Sunday afternoon, and I’ve got a plan to write a Publish0x post to earn some crypto. Your laptop is open, ideas are flowing, but then that voice appears. “Why grind now? You’re young. Let's scroll threw social media” That voice is usually called "inner procrastinator" or "lizard brain" in psychology. It’s the part of your mind driven by instant gratification and avoidance of discomfort, often linked to the brain’s limbic system, which prioritizes short-term rewards over long-term goals. If you won't fight it - you will lose many possibilities.
My Experience
Setting a goal to become a millionaire by age 20 is no easy task, but I chose to pursue it. This meant overhauling my daily routine: no video games, no social media, no hanging out with friends. I needed complete focus on my dream. I began chasing this goal at 15, and it was tough. In 2024, I spent the year exploring different ways to earn money, but I never acted on them due to my inner procrastinator. Whenever I sat down at my computer to start working, I’d end up playing a game or watching a YouTube video titled “15 Tips to Become a Millionaire” for 10 minutes at most before returning to gaming, convinced I’d done enough. Every evening, I imagined myself as a successful millionaire, admired by everyone, and went to bed telling myself, “Tomorrow is the day I’ll finally start working.” But that day never came.
In 2025, as I turned 16, my goal was to finally start earning. I began from scratch, deleting Snapchat, social media, and games. I analyzed various income opportunities I’d researched in 2024. Despite extensive research, I still hadn’t earned a cent because I didn’t take action. I often told myself, “This is too hard; you can’t earn anything doing that.” That’s when my main enemy—procrastination—took over. It took months to realize how much time I’d wasted, and I still hadn’t earned anything or figured out how to start. The problem was that whenever I sat down to work, I’d spend a maximum of 30 minutes on a small task before stopping, convinced by that inner voice that I’d done enough. I genuinely believed this was sufficient and pictured myself living in a villa with sports cars in the near future.
Finally, I came up with an idea: creating a 3D asset web marketplace where people could buy my 3D models. I believed this was a guaranteed success. Though it wasn’t foolproof, it motivated me to fight my inner enemy and pursue my dream. I began investing time and effort into developing my website instead of watching pointless video tutorials. While creating new ideas and solutions, I realized how talented I am and what I’m capable of. I transformed a basic idea for a 3D marketplace store into a large social media platform with numerous features that could lead me to success. By investing more time in my work, it became easier to overcome my inner doubts and fight for my dream.
It took me one year to gain control over myself.
Tips to Beat the Voice
Here are ways to start winning a fight when that voice tries to derail you.
-
To beat your inner "laziness," figure out who you really are and picture the person you want to be. Write down a clear idea of that awesome future you—someone confident and successful—to guide your steps.
-
Visit places that spark excitement, like a fancy car dealership. Seeing your dream car in person will light a fire in you to start working toward owning one.
-
Respect yourself. Hating yourself leads to failure, but loving yourself helps you grow. Instead of focusing on what’s wrong, pick one thing to improve and work on it a little each day. Start with easy steps to keep going.
-
Play music while you work. Music helps you stay focused and makes tasks feel easier, so you can keep at it longer.
-
Talk to a ChatGPT or Grok every day. At the end of the day, share what you did, what went well, and what didn’t. Then, set one simple goal for the next day to stay on track.
Keep Fighting, Keep Winning
Every time you overcome your inner procrastinator, congratulate yourself, because you have won a battle against your toughest enemy. But this is a single victory in a fight, not in the war, which may persist throughout your whole life. Your inner procrastinator emerges the moment you step out of your comfort zone, tempting you to return to safety. Sometimes, its victories are subtle: you might convince yourself you need to eat before work, even if you’re not hungry. You will start wasting your time eating, opening social media to watch while you eat until you realize that you lost 1 hour on nothing. If you give in without reason, your inner enemy prevails. On a trip, when inspiration strikes, that same inner voice may whisper, “We’re on vacation—relax, there’s plenty of time.” Don’t be fooled. The procrastinator will urge you to abandon your goals and return to comfort whenever you face challenges. Ignore it, stay focused, and keep pushing forward to claim your victories.
Become Successful
The world is filled with countless individuals who dream big and have bold, ambitious ideas. They possess all the tools they need to create something amazing, and they have the time to make it happen. Yet, so many of them fail to take action. Why? Because their inner procrastinator—the voice that whispers excuses and delays—keeps winning. This internal struggle traps them in their comfort zones, where it feels safe and easy to avoid taking risks or making changes.
If you can find the courage to face and overcome this inner procrastinator, it’s a massive victory. Defeating that part of yourself that holds you back is no small feat. By winning this personal battle, you open the door to endless opportunities. You’ll gain the confidence and momentum to chase your dreams, no matter how big they are. With determination and persistence, you’re far more likely to achieve your goals and turn your ideas into reality. Taking that first step, no matter how small, sets you on a path to unlock your full potential and create a life filled with purpose and success.
Failing Means Winning
If your ambition is to achieve wealth, you must prepare yourself for a long and challenging journey. If you knew every difficulty you’d face from the start, you might feel so overwhelmed that you’d hesitate to even begin. However, if you’ve already taken the first step toward your goal, it’s crucial to understand that failing does not make you a failure. You will fail more times than the countless hours you’ve scrolled through social media. The greatest mistake you can make is to let those failures convince you to give up.
And again, your inner procrastinator will try to pull you back into your comfort zone. After every stumble, it may whisper that you’re not good enough, that you’re destined to fail, or that it’s easier to quit. But those thoughts are not the truth. Each time you fall short, you gain a valuable lesson. Every failure is an opportunity to learn, grow, and improve for the next attempt. The act of trying, despite the risk of failing, is itself a tremendous victory. It shows courage and determination.
The only true failure happens when you stop trying altogether. When you give in to doubt or fear and abandon your dreams, that’s when you lose. So, keep pushing forward, even when it’s hard. Embrace each setback as a chance to refine your approach and build resilience. By staying committed and learning from your mistakes, you’ll move closer to your goal of wealth and success, unlocking your potential with every step you take.
You VS You
Your biggest enemy is yourself. By taking charge of your thoughts and actions, you can reach any dream you have. It doesn’t matter if you’re young or older, or if you have lots of experience or none at all—your goals are always possible. No matter what your idea is, big or small, you can make it happen. The real fight is you against yourself.
This journey to control your own mind and habits is powerful and life-changing. It takes bravery to face your own doubts and strength to keep going when things get tough. The world is full of opportunities, and nothing outside of you can truly stop you when you focus on your purpose. Your ideas, even the wild or unusual ones, are like seeds that can grow into something amazing with hard work and care. The true challenge is not with other people but with the part of you that wants to stay comfortable and avoid effort. When you win this inner battle, nothing will stop you anymore. Every step you take to push past fear and laziness builds a path to a future where your dreams become real, created by your own determination. So it's you VS you
