So, current remote voting systems are good, but have you tried using a blockchain yet?
Now, you might know, dear reader, your favourite absent crypto writer on publish0x, Clem Fandango, has a bit of a fetish for making the world a better place. I mean, who wants to be rich, live for yourself and party when you can work hard, be poor and help others?
One of the places Clem thinks blockchain tech is most useful for us mere mortals, is voting. Elections. All that government jazz.
So, when Clem Fandango stumbled across a piece on another blogging site the other day, titled 'From Internet Voting to Blockchain Voting: From Good to Better', my pickle of intrigue was well and truly tickled. Maybe the article itself was a little bit of a shill piece, the dude who wrote it works for the project he's talking about, but this didn't turn Clem Fandango off. Oh no.
Apparently this project, DeVote, which runs on the Everscale, is pretty freaking useful. It is 'the only remote ballot marking and return system to ensure permanent separation of voter ballot and voter affidavit.' Sounds fancy for sure. In practise, it means to voters' votes are anonymous. Which is a requirement for sorting out those pesky American 'recount the ballot' BS issues.
Who knows? Clem sure doesn't. But with BTC hitting 22k and everyone being a little more optimistic, maybe 2023 is the year Crypto gets useful.
