
This week we saw Dogecoin overtake Bitcoin as the most talked about cryptocurrency on the internet. The question is, whether this is a good thing or not? Not exactly sure myself, but it definitely shows that people are having fun out there with crypto! Speaking of having fun, NFT markets had their biggest month yet in February, processing more than $340 million in trading volume according to Dapp Radar's February 2021 Industry Report. NBA TopShot is the most active NFT marketplace, clocking volume over $225 million last month. In our next story, mixed martial arts fans will be excited to hear a team of MMA and marketing experts have created a fan-centric platform that's designed to bring the sport into the digital age. MMAON says mixed martial arts is considered to be the world's fastest-growing sport, with the likes of Conor McGregor propelling the discipline to an international stage.
Also, Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing platform providing subsidiary out of the multinational technology company Amazon, announced today that Ethereum is now available on its Amazon Managed Blockchain service. AWS users can now set up Ethereum nodes and join the public Ethereum main network on the Amazon Managed Blockchain. In my personal favorite story of the week, Gazpromneft-Aero, the aviation fuel operator of energy powerhouse Gazprom Neft, has successfully completed tests of its own blockchain-based system for digital aviation refueling called Smart Fuel. This platform helps airlines modernize the refueling process significantly. Essentially, blockchain is a growing list of records (blocks) that are linked using cryptography.
