Origins in Chicago House was born in the 1980s in Chicago’s clubs, where DJs like Frankie Knuckles mixed disco, soul, and electronics. The genre’s name comes from the "Warehouse" club, where it all started. That’s why I named my mix of house and eurodance Warehouse (a nod to its roots).
Beats That Rock A classic house track runs at 120–130 BPM with a signature four-on-the-floor rhythm, where the bass kick hits every quarter note. Try not dancing to that! In wareHOUSE, I keep this groove but add syncopation. I love syncopated patterns (3+3 or 3+2)—they’re not too common in mainstream house, making my tracks recognizable! These “triplets” and “fives,” as I call them in my slang, make the rhythm slightly asymmetrical and extra “swingy.” They vibe with afrohouse, but wareHOUSE stands out with eurodance synths and FM bass pluck inspired by Culture Beat.
Global Vibe From Deep House to Tech House, house has taken over the world! In the 90s, it conquered Ibiza, and today it sounds everywhere—from underground clubs to global festivals like Tomorrowland.
Influence on Pop Many hits by Beyoncé, Calvin Harris, or Dua Lipa have a house vibe. This style has long moved beyond clubs and rocks the charts!
House = Freedom House music has always been about unity, love, and self-expression. In the 80s, it brought people together in clubs regardless of race or status. And that spirit is still alive! For me, house is the modern underground in its best sense (like rock ‘n’ roll in the 60s or metal in the 70s).
What’s your all-time favorite house track? Drop it in the comments. For me, it’s Dusky 'Careless', which I already remixed in a Ukrainian back in 2024.
