Social Features Coming to BlockchainRPG

Hello adventurers,

I am happy to be sharing a couple things that the BlockchainRPG team is currently working on. While the last few weeks for the crypto-verse as a whole as been a little weird, our BRPG team has still been hard at work. Most of the recent changes/updates/bug fixes/etc. that have been deployed are on the backend or non-player facing but they will be beneficial for the longevity of our game and ultimately our players. With that being said, we are also working on player-facing enhancements. One of my personal focuses has been player retention strategies and tokenomics structure. Both of which are fairly large undertakings and will take a while to engineer, test, deploy, modify, and redeploy, but we are on the right track.

Bartle's Taxonomy of Player Types

With some of the social efforts outlined below, we are working towards addressing one of the major pillars as defined by Dr. Richard A. Bartle's "Taxonomy of Player types", Socializing with other players. I won't go too deep in the Bartle's Taxonomy of Player Types in this post because I am working on a separate paper in regards to our own vision of modifying and outlining the application of Bartle's Player Types to NFT Games rather than MUDs. For a sense of reference now, Bartle defined the "socializer" as one of the four main types of players. Bartle says these players come to play, and continue to play due to primarily social aspects.

What does all of this have to do with BlockchainRPG?

I mention these things to help build the scope and assist in defining the process behind the actions of the BRPG team. We are interested in building a game for players long-term, and to do that correctly, accounting for the use and application of relevant game theory will greatly assist in everyone's long term success. The success of the team and the long term growth of the player base/community, driven by engaging, interactive, and progressive gameplay.

A couple notes for the community on things to expect from our team:

Chat Box Enhancement -

A few weeks ago, we had a small group of community players from our Discord channel assist in testing the in-game Chat Box prior to deployment. Since then, and with the help of the general player base, we have been working on additional chat box features to drive not only a better community social feel but also assist in player privacy.

When we first launched the Chat Box, the player's wallet address was automatically brought over and put on display in the Chat Box if they decided to engagement and communicate with other players. This week, we are finalizing the deployment of the Username function in-game. Players will be able to assign their Adventurers in-game with their own customer username to be on display in the Chat Box. Our Alpha and Beta phase players now this is a feature we have wanted to bring for a long time. Don't forget, we are still committed to things like the Founder's Milo character cards getting special titles or functions in-game. Milo will always be the OG.

Team and Community Driven Stickers -

The addition of Sticker NFTs to BlockchainRPG has been in high demand by our gaming community over the last few months. As a small development team, we first needed to focus on the game's functionality and creating/support the building blocks for the game's next stages. With those final pieces coming together we thought it would be a great time to push some of these community ideas forward.

We are currently working on two different primary sticker types. Sticker NFTs created and brought to Aurum's adventurers by the official BlockchainRPG team and Sticker NFTs created and brought to Aurum by the players.

- Team Stickers - There are currently 100+ different NFTs in the works on this front. Our library of Sticker NFTs and ideas for new ones is growing everyday. I will be making a post about how get your hands on the new Sticker NFTs for BlockchainRPG in the coming weeks. For now, id like to to kick off the spirit of the Team Stickers by sharing a couple Stickers based on our Team members here.

- Community Stickers - The members of our BlockchainRPG Discord Channel have already had a couple sneak peaks of the cast of character stickers coming to Aurum soon. They have also been able to enjoy the recent creation of Guilds within our discord community. Our current plan is to provide a pathway for community members to create their own Sticker NFTs through our game that can be minted and dispersed throughput the community. Applications for these community driven Sticker NFTs can be far and wide (and largely community driven). More information will be available in the upcoming official sticker NFT announcement. Imaging everything that can be done with a system like this in place.

Adventurer Leaderboard -

Having a leaderboard for gameplay helps contribute not only to a social aspect in the game but also a competitive aspect. We have been working towards integrating a Leaderboard functionality into overall gameplay along with the other community drive ideas. There are a couple different ways to implement leaderboards for players, whether it be highest level, number of hunts, GOLD generated, etc. As we iron out the details for a secure leaderboard system (one that bad actors can't abuse), more details will be coming out to our players. In the meantime, one of the guild leaders for our largest BRPG Guild has been hosting a community generated leaderboard.
